Anybody watching?? There have been some great team and individual performances. Kobe, LeBron, Nash and Wade have just been outstanding. San Antonio doesn't like its usual self. Detroit looks dominant. Flip has to be loving life.

Just like that! LeBron and the Cavs have stunned the Pistons to take a 3 - 2 lead in their playoff series.

Nash deserves the MVP as he is the glue that keeps the Suns together. Marion and Stoudamire alone were not enough to bring the franchise success. As he gets a little older, LeBron has to be poised to capture the MVP in the next few years. He dishes as well as he finishes and has a sweet stroke from the perimeter.

Doggie's Dirt reported yesterday on KFAN that the Wolves top priority this summer will be Allen Iverson. Another good temporary move, but AI is getting up there. He at least takes the big shot.

I have absolutely no interest in the NBA playoffs except for a sliver because of Flip. Interest in the NBA playoffs has been similar to mine statewide, but If he goes out it will go from sliver to zero.

Flip is a good good, but not a great coach. When things are going good for his squads,he looks great. But he CAN NOT coach his teams out of difficult times. Just look at some of the huge tailspins the Wolves went through when he was here with teams that would get of to great starts then lose 6-8 in a row,10 out of 12,etc. Which is exactly why I can see the Cavs winning thier 4th straight in game 6,this Pistons team seems to think it can just turn it off and on when it wants. Can't they see this is EXACTLY what the Lakers did in 2004 that ultimitely led to their defeat agains these same Pistons??

It is hard to belive how good Lebron is. The kid is 21 and taking it to the Pistons. The thing that sepeartes him from Kobe and Jordan type players is his size. He is physically imposing!

Good thing we got a Lottery pick otherwise we wouldn't have a pick in the 1st round of this years draft. .. . but who do the Wolves consider picking at number 6????

No one. McHale will trade pick 6 for a third-string center that they need. :bored:

If the hoop had been any less flexible, it would have been Joe Theisman hour on the trampoline. Funny part about that video, the kid is in pain on the mat, and the other two pick up the ball and continue to play, just like we used to do.

Also, nice touch that the person keeps on filming and is more concerned with zoom and focus than with seeing whether the kid will need his leg amputated.

Detroit bounced by Miami. I am sure Flip is going to catch a lot of heat (no pun intended). Detroit shot 40% from the field and allowed Miami to shoot 52% in this series.

I sure wish the Gopher job was open to bring Flip home to coach our Gophers.

I was tempted to put this in the NFL talk since it is almost as stupid as Big Ben riding on a motorcycle without a helmet and putting his money/career in danger....

Now we come across another idiot athlete who is on the verge of being drafted in the 1st round of the NBA and just weeks before the draft, he goes out and gets a DWI. Jesus, are some of these guys that freaking stupid? All that money on the horizon and you put it in jeopardy like this?

DWI for JJ

Officer: "Son, you've got a BAC of .15. I'm going to have to take you in."
JJ: "But officer, I just had 3 Shirley Temples. I'm usually still ok to drive."

Does this mean that Portland's going to draft him? It may not matter, because now that he'll have a criminal record, he'll be ready for a long career in the NBA.

Necessary?? We all get that you hate hoops.

According to Grandpa Sid, the Wolves are in love with Morrisson from Gonzaga. Supposedly Morrison's agent won't let him work out for the Wolves becasue he believes he will be drafted well before the sixth spot.

I don't think Morrison will be a star, just a serviceable backup. Of course, that is probably why mchale likes him.

Can't complain about the shot at McHale, but to say he'll be only a serviceable backup might be a stretch. He may not have what it takes to carry a team(see NCAA tournament breakdown) as a star, but to label him as a backup may be a bit much. Either way, I'm not hoping for him to go to the Wolves.

I don't want Morrison on the Wolves mainly because I want to see the team get somebody with athleticism and that can defend. Both things that are not strong points in Morrison.

McHale needs to go with the George Constanza attitude in the Seinfeld episode called "The Opposite". Basically, McHale needs to do everything opposite of what he would normally do. It can't be any worse than what he as done before.

I too was happy to see Mourning get a ring. Dewayne Wade by all accounts is a really good, classy kid as well. Lastly, to see Pat Riley and that slicked-back hair with one more championship was fun to see.

I watched a lot of the NBA playoffs and two players stood out more than the rest: Dewayne Wade and LeBron James. These two are very special. Dynamic, explosive, care about / play defensive and can carry their teams. If you get the chance to watch these two play, don't pass up the opportunity.

NBA basketball and country music? I sense some culture issues forthcoming.

There will be some interesting ramifications from this. One would have to think KFAN will want another team to call 1130 home. Twins? Gophers? Wild? Will be interesting to see what they pursue.

Wolves on clock.
1. Italian kid to Toronto
2. Blazers (trade) Aldridge from Texas
3. Bobacts take Morrison
4. Bulls (trade) Tyrus Thomas from LSU
5. Shelden Williams to Atlanta from Duke

Brandon Roy, Randy Foye or Rudy Gay?

Wolves take Washington guard Brandon Roy. Good choice. Pac-10 player of the year. Well-rounded and will definitely be our 2-guard next year.

I'm not sure I like the trade for Foye since we could have kept Roy, drafted Gay, or at least got something more for Roy. The Blazers sure saw McHale coming. Why didn't we force the issue some more and get more than cash, how stupid especially since Portland needed Roy.

McHale has become the laughinstock of the league, ESPN has him in several punchlines in predraft articles usually involving him creating miracles for other teams.

according to the announcers they have compaired Foye to Dwayne Wade and Chauncey Billups. .. . so I wouldn't say it was a bad trade

The fact that we traded for a player drafted in a lower slot and got only cash is the questionable part. Foye can play both gaurd slots and scores well, plus he is a great defender. The problem is not the asset we recieved it is the manner in how the consideration given was managed. Essentially is breaks down to piss poor negotiation.

Can anyone explain to me why we took a guy at 6, then traded him basically straight up for the guy picked at 7? Or is this just the shenanagans we can continue to expect from mchale? :confused2: i dont get it.

Ditto. When you're picking ahead of a team who desperately wants a player, "Just how bad DO you want him" is a question that should give you some solid leverage. In the NBA today, and with all the questions/problems the Timberwolves face, what is $300K?

McHale does it again.

Is that 300k in cash going to go towards re-resigning Joe Smith?

I am not any McHale fan (as a GM at least) but beyond the 300K, the Wolves also save themselves another 1.5 million (or more) based on signing a guy who was drafted one spot lower. Just to point out that factor as well.

So explain to me what I am missing. We got the player we supposedly wanted, saved on the salary slot for the rookie and got some cash to throw at contracts or free agents. Sounds like a good deal for us.

We did get money to spend on free agents, the trouble is the majority of the good guys, the game changers, will most likely be re-signed by their teams or to somewhere else.

And last time I checked, the Wolves are not even under the cap.

ESPN has a list of teams under the cap here

Taylor has to be willing to pay the luxury tax and make some big moves to make this thing work. We are not just one piece away from going back to the Western Conference finals.

What the Wolves need is someone like John Paxson, who owned the draft this year. The Bulls received the number 2 pick because the New York Knicks have the dumbest front office in the NBA. Then proceeded to get everything they need except for a big man, which wasn't really available in the draft anyway. Also, next year, if the Bulls finish with a better record that the Knicks, they have the right to swap picks.

That trade, if you guys don't know of it, was Eddie Curry (who may or may not have a heart problem) and Antonio Davis, for a couple guys and this year and next year's draft picks, which, considering how New York is playing, was and is going to be great picks. It was the most ridiculous trade ever, and I love that the Bulls were on the winning side of it.

Roy vs Foye. :confused2: Some tab Roy as the best player in the draft and some have Foye labled as the next Dewayne Wade. Who knows the difference and can explain the two players to us all???

They were both great college players. The consensus is that Roy will be able to start immediately next year, while Foye still needs a little time to develop. They are both good defenders with the edge possibly going to Foye (at least on the perimeter). Roy is an SG/SF while Foye is a SG/PG. However, both players should be earmarked as shooting gaurds. Foye will be the type of player whom you can give the ball at the end of the game and say go win this one kid. This and the SG/PG tab is probably why he draws wade comaprisons. Of course, every draft pick is compared to a current player, so no he isn't the missing link that will propel as to a championship next season. He will be a good player, that is not the issue.

The main problem I find with the draft pick is the lack of negotiating savvy on the part of McHale. Portland did not hide the fact that they wanted Roy, badly. They also needed a big man. Chicago sensed this and roped them into giving up a pick for someone who would have fell to them anyway. The T-Wolves subsequently got roped into giving up a player for 300k and another player who would have likely slipped out of the top ten had they not requested him.

Foye has shown marked improvement every year he's played, he will be good. The problem is McHale keeps getting lowballed by everyone. If this were the only time this happened I wouldn't blink twice. Nonetheless, Nchale got robbed on the cassell trade, the szerbiak trade, got caught for Joe Smith (even though it was common knowledge that every GM did this), etc., etc. When are the T puppies going to stop being everyone's lap dog?
