Hopefully Flip and the Pistons put a big a$$ whoopin on the Timberwolves. Shows what a class guy Saunders is that he refuses to publicly knock the T'Wolves after the shabby way he was treated.

Go PISTONS!!!!!! and hopefully the next person to get canned is Kevin McHale. The T-Wolves really need to get someone to help KG out besides just Wally. Maybe can the Candyman along with McHale. . . .

Couldn't agree more. I don't even care for the T-wolves or any BBall for that matter, but the fact that Kevin McHale still has a job when he has been nothing short of a disaster, i.e. drafts, trades, f.a. signings, is a joke. It was stated in the paper last year that some season ticket holders would not renew if McHale was axed. Shows what a complete bunch of idiots follow BBall and the Wolves.

Didn't see the game, just highlights. In typical fashion we blew a 14 or 15 point lead then had to scamble to win. Davis had 26 on 10 of 18 shooting, including a couple big buckets the last 2 minutes and a big rebound at the end. Saw a quote from him yesterday on how much he wanted to be here ever since we tried to get him from Cleveland a couple years back.

Wolves lost to SA but it looks like we got production out of Blount 18 and Davis 20. Rumors out there about Wolves making another move with Seattle for Evans and Murray. Newly acquired Banks could be the trade bait.

How about Wally coming back to play with Boston on Monday. Wally and his wife are having a baby on Monday ( C section). You can't make this stuff up!

Nice game against Boston. The new players looked good, especially Banks. Hopefully the Wolves run with Banks and limit Jaric and THud's time. Wolves definetly look more athletic. Blount has played better than Kandi already.

I went to the game last night and it was a lot of fun-just 1 game, but we are clearly more athletic now. Banks played the best I've seen a Wolves point guard play since when maybe Marbury was here. He is incredibly quick off the dribble. Look for the Wolves to deal Carter and/or Hudson,we have too many point guards on the roster now. Blount looks like he can definitely contribute offensively, and may be a decent rebounder contrary to what was being said about him. Ricky Davis is an upgrade overall from Wally as well. I actually have a little bit of optimism here!!! Hats off to Wally for being a class act last night and in his time here-good to see him and Garnett exchanging hugs before and after the game.

What happend vs Golden State? Sounds like KG was pretty testy after the game. I read that in the loss to Portland, KG did not take a shot in the last 6 1/2 minutes. You have to be kidding me?

How is it possible we beat Phoenix and lose by 30+ to Golden State?

By shooting an incredible percentage from the field. I actually got to watch a little of this game and, considering the shots that were falling for us, this should have been a blowout. I don't expect to see us beat any other top teams in the near future.

KG looks disinterested for the first time in his career, and I'm starting to think he may want out. I wouldn't mind seeing him chase a ring somewhere else, considering the financial trouble the Wolves are in for the next 5 years. He never developed a killer instinct, which is a shame considering how talented he is.

No doubt he is a great player, and person from what I understand....But, hockey is much more of a team game. Listen to Paul Allen, a huge NBA fan, complain how the NBA is nothing more than a bunch of individuals trying to make "highlight films".

Although this has nothing to do with the NBA, when I went to the coyotes vs. wild game a little while back, yeah I really wanted to see Ballard, but my main reason was to just be in the same building as "The Great One"

I went to a Nuggets vs. T-pups game a few years back just to see Carmello, and I will buy tickets at whatever it costs me to see Sir Crosby play his first game at the X. Whenever the oppourtunity comes up to see a GREAT player in any sport I will jump at the oppourtunity.

I would like to go to the game and see LEEbron but I cant. It is still very early in his career but he is VERY VERY good, he could turn out to be the greatest player to ever play the game or he could turn out like Shawn Kemp. I will gladly pay to see a player that is a "freak of nature" for any team in any sport.

I remember I would ask my dad what it was like to see Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr play, he said it was like watching a man amongst boys. To get the oppourtunity to see a great player is special even if it is the regualr season.

Tell that the Suns. I've always found it funny how threatened Minnesota hockey fans are by basketball. I've never really noticed the reverse to be true. Personally, I like both. They're DIFFERENT sports, with their own styles of play, and in both cases, you have to have played them a decent amount to really enjoy it.

Yeah, there is nothing like watching a bunch of overpaid, showboating young men walk up and down the court while one of them attempts to beat the 3 guys who half hustled back to the other end one-on-one by throwing up a prayer shot, then crying to the ref because his jersey got brushed by a hand. Should he actually make a shot, he makes sure the entire crowd knows it by flaunting and taunting. I love the NBA.

It has been asked before but needs to be asked again. Someone please explain to me why it is necessary to bash basketball in this thread? If you hate the NBA or hoops, just read the thread, ignore it or just move on. What is the point of ripping into it. There a some here who want to talk about things other than hockey or the gophers.

OK I have a question regarding that trade for Jaric where we gave up Cassell and the 1st round pick.

Is it true that if we are in the lottery we get to keep that pick?

P.S. J.J. Redick is probably the best shooter I've ever seen in my life. I hate to admit it because I hate Duke with a passion, but he is an absolutely incredible shooter. Unbelievable. Seems like every time he shoots the ball it ends up right in the center of the hoop. He never even needs a roll, its always a perfect swish. Unbelievable.

Yes, we get to keep it if we're in the lottery. I believe it just gets carried to the next year, so whatever we do next season, they get the pick (provided we don't make the playoffs this season).

Would be fun to trade KG for Chris Paul, Kirk Snyder, and David West, and at least have something to be excited about. The funny thing is they woudn't even consider KG for CP, since statistics aside, Chris Paul might already by the better player.

The player this team is missing is a Sam Cassell / Marbury type. Somebody who wants the ball at the end of the game or when the shot clock is running down. That player is the perfect compliment to KG.

I wonder what the heck KG was thinking to throw that ball into the stands?

KG said he had no intentions of hitting a fan. He also said he was trying for a delay of game call but should have had more restraint. Wolves hold off Memphis without KG to win 105 - 99. Coach Casey is optimistic that KG will be fined and not suspended.

Interesting piece about the Garnett - ball in stands guy in the Strib this morning -

Garnett was ejected, then went to the fan to apologize before leaving the court. It appeared the man might have been upset, but Tempesta said his friend told him he was simply dazed and momentarily confused.

The man was wheeled out of the Target Center bowl on a gurney at the insistence of the Timberwolves and not at his request, Tempesta said. Boos followed him into the tunnel, and Tempesta said his friend said that might have been the hardest thing to take.

According to Tempesta, the man bears no grudge toward Garnett or the organization, plans no legal action and simply wants to put the incident behind him. Thus, Tempesta said, his friend was not interested in talking about the situation himself.

"He was not mad for a second at [Garnett]," Tempesta said. "He's mad at anybody who portrayed it that way. ... He's embarrassed about the whole thing. The only thing he's angry with is how the crowd reacted to him."

People need to get off this guy's case, more nationally than locally. Rome was ripping the guy yesterday too and ESPN radio. I haven't seen it but they guy probably got stunned a little bit by not being ready for the ball and if a basketball clips you in the nose it could sting. Then Target Centern and the Wolves completely overreacted trying not to get sued.

I couldn't agree more. I can't believe some of the venom that has been spewed toward this fellow; all because he apparently didn't act "Manly enough" after getting hit by the ball. He hasn't done or said anything negative and people nationwide are all over him.

As for Jim Rome, I'd consider it a badge of honor if I did anything worthy of his criticism; what a sad, worthless, angry piece of **** he is.

Agree.

This was in today's STP Pioneer Press:
KG makes $18 million a year, his fine was $5,000, .02778% of his salary.
Someone who makes $50,000 a year, $13.89 is a equivalent fine.

What does the NBA and other leagues do with all of the money that they collect in fines each year? Hopefully it goes to charity or some other useful cause.......

KG makes $18 million a year, his fine was $5,000, .02778% of his salary.
Someone who makes $50,000 a year, $13.89 is a equivalent fine.

KG makes $18 million a year, he donated $1.2 million to Katrina victims, 6.7% of his salary.
Someone who makes $50,000 a year, $3,333 is an equivalent donation.

Let he amongst us without sin cast the first stone.

I'm really disappointed that his selfless act quickly faded into background noise, yet this silly incident is receiving exponentially more press. :?

Yeah KG is probably the best sports-figure role model we've had in the twin cities in several years. Give this "young fella" a break, will ya'?!!?!

Watching this squad, the thing the perplexes me is that we are now a worse defensive team.

Wolves go 0 - 6 on the road trip. KG had 20 points and 17 boards tonight in a losing effort to Golden State.

You gotta feel for a guy like KG. The guy wants to win so bad and he is surrounded by a bunch of losers, especially in the front office! He is, however, making $20 million+ so I don't feel too bad for him.

It will be interesting to see if Taylor steps up and does something in the offseason. I am afraid if he doesn't, the Target center will be a ghost town next year.

Garnett in a special interview with  Fox 9  said that he cannot go through another rebuilding mode and trusts that Taylor will do the right thing and get a championship worthy team in the Target Center. Basically saying if not trade me so I can get a ring, however he did say he will be in Minny as long as the Wolves want him. Nothing new really but at least he came out and said what everyone knew he was thinking. Fox 9 did a good job of blowing the story way out of context again and said that KG is demanding a trade. Classy once again Fox 9 :chainsaw:

Great article in the Startribune Sunday about KG and Marbury! What if's, lost opportunities, and cold realities.

Well, Garnett is starting to squeeze the Twolves management. He hasn't demanded a trade but is pretty much telling Taylor and McHale that they need to make some changes and get him some help. This story is going to get interesting.

What people tend to gloss over about Marbury here is that the guy has been a loser everywhere he's gone. In New Jersey, they got rid of him for Jason Kidd and they went the the Finals twice,I believe. They got rid of him in Phoenix for Steve Nash, and Nash has made them a top tier team. Now in New York,it's well known that his teamates can't stand him,and neither can his coach, and he'll be out of there the 1st chance the Knicks get. It broke my heart the day the Wolves traded Marbury, but the guy is a bum and he'll go down as one of the biggest underachievers in the history of the NBA. He's Me First, team a distant 2nd. He would have melted down here eventually, even if we had kept him,he never would have gotten over his jelousy of Garnett.

Sid had a nice take on the Wolves moves this past off season and season and the position they are now in. The Wolves must finish no higher than 10th or they risk losing their draft pick. Simply put, we were better off keeping Cassell, Wally, Kandi and having flexibility, money and draft picks.

Garnett sits today and breaks his NBA leading streak of 351 consecutive games started. Ricky Davis also sits and the Wolves beat Atlanta on a late jumper by Hassle. McCants scores a career high 28.

Ouch.

Dropped their 14th straight on the road.

Kind of reminds me of the year the Vikes couldn't win on the road either, (whole 16 games without a road win?) you just didn't want to watch the game, because deep down you thought your team wouldn't win.

Rock Bottom. :(

the wolves got some very good talent, but they need to add a scorer/defender to their lineup and FIRE McCHALE and the T-Wolves will be fine next year. . . . not a huge bball fan, buts it's hard seeing the wolves go down like this

Nice job by the Wolves to sit Garnett and Davis to protect their draft pick! We are only two years removed from the Western Conference finals. Seems like 10 years ago already!

What was missed by most of the media was Stern and Co. changing the legal age for entering the NBDL to 18. Here's a transcript for the common sense impaired:

Stern to NCAA "Hey guys," :nutz:

My most recent reason to hate the NBA. Rip Hamilton apparently is wearing that ridiculous face mask as a fashion statement.

I didnt say anything about the way he plays the game. I said he is still wearing a mask after breaking his nose two years ago, which he is apparently doing for a fashion statement. He should be ripped for that. Thats like Lebron and McCants wearing black tights. I know plenty about the NBA but Im not exactly proud of that.
