To make a long and confussing story short. Cause it's long, confussing and so many details to it. But, I have a friend who's boyfriend at the time was killed playing Russian Roulette. The real sad part of the incident was, right before they pulled the plug on him she whispered in his ear that she was pregant and he would be a dad.

IMO best case is Paterno passed the buck and didn't do enough to prevent the horrifying abuse of children. Worst case he impeded the investigation into it. So actually no, I don't really care about his philanthropy or what a great guy he supposedly was up until that point. Guess I'm an unforgiving prick when it comes to these kinds of issues.

I think he is hinting at the fireworks law that Kriesel was trying to pass.

Yeah, same with most things in life. If it's not a completely new experience, I hate it.

If Wisconsin-Madison is the state's most prestigious university and the state itself is known as The Dairy State, does that mean UW is Bovine University?

This pretty much sums it up for me as well. Giving money to charities and to the University doesn't make up for allowing these types of abuses to happen.

This year I found that I prefer being a little bit further away. If you're up too close, you have no sense of things setting off at different elevations, everything's just straight above you. Plus I think they look better framed against the horizon/skyline as opposed to just pitch black.

The fact that OT had to mention, "illegal alien" in his comment is the reason. The girl died and it was a tragedy, but it wasn't because the driver was illegal. Immigration is a very real and large problem that needs attention, but it is a completely different subject matter.

What should have OT said? If this clown wasn't here illegally that girl would still be alive. Throw in the parts about driving without a license, a past DWI, and carrying loads of false identification.... so yes, it's worth mentioning in the same as if he were drunk or high, or fleeing police, or driving a stolen car, or doing something else illegal while he killed her in. To me it's not just tragic accident anymore when any of the factors I noted are involved because a crime is being committed.....just like in this case.

Someone doesn't need to be here illegally to be an idiot. The "throw in parts" you mention are relevant to the story not her immigration status. Fix illegal immigration? Yes. Blame it for this death? Missing the forest for the trees.

It's been a horrible 2 days for U.S. troops. A nearby neighbor used to have a Bush Killed banner in his front yard where he would change the number when a military personnel was killed. It was removed when Obama took office. I guess it wasn't a protest about war (as I initially thought) as much as it was that he was a DUMBACRAT.
The death toll in the last 3 years has been catastrophic, yet our media all but looks blindly to the daily deaths.
Jupiter wrote:Sadly... I think the media is not reporting it so much is because the numbers of deaths compared to other major wars in the last 100 years is just so much smaller in comparison. Soldiers are just not getting killed at the rate that they were in the wars I list below. Military Deaths (deaths per day)
WW1: 116,516 (279)
WW2: 405,399 (416)
Korea: 36,516 (45)
Vietnam: 58,209 (26)
Iraq/Afganistan/War on Terror: 6,280 (1.72)
