Even today wasn't that bad. A little humid. I'll take 100 degrees and little humidity over 80 degrees and 80 dew point.

No. I want it 80-90, no humidity. Year round. If it was physically possible to have snow at these temps, that's awesome right there. Gotta have snow in winter. Yes, I may be a crackpot.

I kinda hate the cold. That may also be an understatement.

DO YOU WANT ME TO MELT, MAN?!?

Just kidding... But I was literally dripping sweat off my nose many times today... It was not pleasant.

If there is one "luxury" I will ever want on a car, it's not satellite navigation, satellite radio, auxiliary connections, DVD and entertainment, or floor mats. It's cooled seats. That's all. In fact, I'd take hand-crank windows if it meant I got cooled seats in the summer.

So you hate it when 90% of girls between the ages of 18 and 25 open their mouths?
I swear, that generic statement is almost 75% of the facebook status updates I see from girls. It's so annoying. It isn't that hard to find a guy who isn't a douche... Just stop going home with a guy who buys you 4 drinks at a bar and expect him to care about how you feel.

As far as the white sunglasses--I own a pair of white sunglasses. Not because they were white, but because they were $9.99 at a Holiday Gas Station last summer and they fit. That was literally the only criteria I had: Do they fit? Ok. Are they less than 15 bucks? Deal. So not all people who wear white sunglasses are jackwagons (although I absolutely am  )

A friend of mine had a great reply to a status like that a couple weeks ago. Status was something like, "Where have all the good guys gone?" Reply, "Right in the friendzone where you left them. I waited for 2 years, not gonna wait forever."

Girls like that can't help but fall for d-bags and whioux fans for whatever reason.

The Rube wrote:I will admit, public is a whole different scenario. When I was too young to remember now, I threw a tantrum once, maybe twice from what I was told. Parents just walked away. Didn't give the "attention" I desired when I threw the tantrum. I learned quickly. In private, that's when the switch/wooden spoon came in. It was mainly "you have one shot to not do that anymore, or it's the switch/spoon."

I learned that VERY quickly.

Listen, I'm not saying it is an easy job. Not at all. But sitting in a specified space for a set amount of time would not deter me at all from future devious behavior, and most of my friends were the same way. I dunno why. It's what is was.

I have to comment on the parenting thing quickly as I don't think it matters what method one uses, there is always something you need to be able to do to get you from one day to the next.

Growing up, I was never given a time out. My dad drove semi Mon-Fri and the worst was when we got in trouble on Monday and my mom would say "you wait until your dad gets home" That scared the crap out of me. Disappointing my parents didn't keep me out of trouble, hell, I disappointed my dad until I was 28 years old. Anyway, my parents didn't abuse us. I got the spoon and my dad's belt (from my mom), my dad only grabbed me by the back of the neck. I didn't get in trouble much though. My sister who is 3 years younger than me always threatened to call the cops. My mom dared her to and said life would be way worse if she did. My youngest sister (11 years younger) actually called the cops on my mom. Sherriff showed up, I had to go to the house. Luckily it was an old Sherriff and I just told him I would stay there and he was cool with it. Believe me, my little sister wouldn't dare call the cops again...

Today, I have a 6 year old girl and a 4 year old boy. We got divorced 2.5 years ago. Polar opposite parenting styles. When the kids are with me, they are well-behaved, well-mannered and listen when I tell them to stop. When they are with their mother, anything goes. She has never had control of them. Most of it is because she had a terrible role model for a mother on parenting. She is trying to get better, but I feel the damage is done. My son is pretty wel behaved around both of us, but my daughter is horrible with my ex. Case in point, today me and my girlfriend went with my ex and her boyfriend with the kids to play mini-golf for my son's birthday. As soon as my daughter say my ex, she started whining, crying at the drop of a hat and wanting to be carried every where. My ex tried to me a parent, it didn't work. About an hour later, her and her boyfriend left and my daughter completely changed into the sweetheart I see all the time. Its frustrating to see, I know it frustrates my ex, but she either won't or can't change.

Lastly, I too judged before having kids. Today, I am probably more critical, but more respectful of the difficulties that comes with it. I went from being a s**t dad (before divorce) to a pretty damn good dad now. Spanking was one of those things I thought must be done. I have spanked only my son once in the last 2 years and I was guilt ridden after it. It probably wasn't necessary, but at the time it felt like I needed to. I used to say that I was for it, maybe I still am, but if I can keep the communication open with my kids and continue to set good examples, I won't ever need to and I am cool with that.

No matter what, parenting is tough, but the rewards of those little beings loving you with all that they are is compensation enough for any tough job...

When I saw Van Halen in '95 my girlfriend at the time was on the receiving end of a similar guy. I told her NOT to wear her green suede leather coat to a rock concert. She found out why you don't, then she expected me to leave when Van Halen had only been on stage for about 15 minutes.... :chainsaw: . I made her and her brother's girlfriend go stay at a friend's dorm room across the street from Hilton Coliseum while me and her brother stayed at the concert.

That said dumbass ended up sleeping through the entire concert.

No, we were in Section 114, and I could smell it before I knew where it had happened. Luckily our seats were not needed.

Let's just say if you have season tickets for the Wild, and you sit in Section 114, Row 15, I feel for you. I am sure it soaked in real good.

I've heard this. I've also heard that some people have it worse than I do. I know I will have to get over loving my wife, but I'm going to end up moving out of the area and leaving my sons behind. That's really tough to think about.

Exactly. Twinkies in the freezer will give you a delicious frozen treat, not 48 hours of Two Hole Salute.

Having satellite TV when it's raining super hard and you're trying to watch the end of a hockey game :chainsaw: :chainsaw: :chainsaw: :anger: :anger: :anger:

edit: And ON TOP of that, other channels are working just fine, but not NBCSN

When people both call (and leave a message) AND text saying "call me right away"...but don't say what it's about. If you're gonna leave a VM, at the very least tell me what you need me to "call you right away" for. And then...when you do call them back, you find out it was nothing that I would deem "call me right away" worthy.

Headlines so misleading you don't understand how the person who wrote it is still employed:

Headline: See Skydiver Land Without Parachute

Video: http://cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/bes ... m.cnn.html

It's almost criminally false.

Both encountered on my way to the hospital cafeteria this morning:

1) High-heeled shoes. Is there some sort of historically psychological reasoning behind them? I get that someone might hear the clomp of your shoes and think, "OMG A POWERFUL WOMAN", but is that reasonable anymore? I just think they're annoying as hell...

2) I don't know what peeves me about this, but:

(Purchases coffee, and cashier gives me receipt--even though their machines NEVER print receipts, and no one needs them)
Me: Do you have any recycling?
Cashier: "Uhh... Not really."

Do you mean "no" or "yes"???

Don't get me started on the posting pictures of yourself on FB. My ex-wife post a new self-potrait of herself on FB every day. We are civil and keep each other as friends for the kids, but every day she takes a picture of herself posing and I really have yet to see her post anything else...who is that vain?!?

My wife was watching one of the morning shows (Today, Good Morning America, CBS' This Morning, I forget which one) and they introduced Gregg Allman as "Cher's ex-husband." It made me sad to think that a sizable portion of the population knows one of the Allman Bros. primarily as "one of Cher's husbands."

A couple of us: Who?
Friend: so and so.

Friend: Mr Ashley Judd.

Driving in and out of town on the weekend. Too many drive like they don't know that they can crash their cars. A lot of them drive like they don't care and definitely don't know what happens when cars crash. Cars jammed together going 75 mph + playing games to get ahead of someone else. There needs to be a citizens reckless driving ticket with forced servitude cleaning up accidents and freeing trapped accident victims.

Repeat Peeve: DirecTV guys at Best Buy.

I went to Best Buy with my dad to help him pick out a TV. We were talking to a Best Buy salesman for a while. Just as I started to say how nice it was to not have the annoying DirecTV guy bugging us, here comes Mr. Annoying strolling around the corner. :chainsaw:

The 3 of us laugh at the irony and he stood there feeling dumb. He started in with his Jahova's Witness-like fake curiosity about our lives. I shot him thes stink eye and told him I have cable and will not ever move to satellite (only to make it painfully clear that he needs to leave). At this point he starts badgering me as to why. It is none of your business Jackbag!

I hate these people. Leave me alone. I am buying a TV and I don't want to be pestered. I don't know why they won't take the hint and move on. Nothing works. Awkward silence must be comforting to these toolboxes.

People really need to learn that city driving and freeway driving are different (don't drive in the left lane, pick a speed and set your cruise control, be aware of your surrounding if you're going to pass someone and there's a faster car approaching ,etc.). This is actually the first time in awhile I've taken a long car trip where I wasn't in some form of rage over stuff like this but we also left and came back at times where there was a lot less traffic.

I did have a couple smirks on my face on the way home yesterday when guys were driving at least 80mph past me and then I saw them getting pulled over a few miles up the road

One of them was a Nissan Altima and another that I remember seeing was a really old Toyota Camry IIRC.

I don't drive between here and Omaha that often anymore, but we do go there to see my parents every Memorial Day. I've never seen the Iowa State Patrol out in the force they were out in yesterday. They were even running speed traps 50 miles north of Ames which I have never seen them do.

One of the days I was driving back to Sioux Falls during the summer I had 2 assclowns racing down I-90 behind me. I had the cruise in my truck set at 76. These guys caught up to and passed me within probably 90 seconds of me seeing them in my rear view mirror (probably 2 miles behind me). I would guess they were going roughly 110mph each, weaving in and out of traffic. They damn near rear-ended me (their cars were sitting so low their heads would have been taken off by my rear bumper).
One of them was driving a souped up Mustang and one of them was driving a Corvette.
15 minutes later I saw both of them pulled over by a state trooper. I slowed down and gave them a Hakstol Salute.

Doesn't GPL have a "no math" rule? That's getting awful close to a word problem.

I've noticed that a significant fraction of these d-bags who don't drive fancy cars drive Pontiac Grand Prix's. It's uncanny.

Careful there Tee09 I drive a 2005 Grand Prix with a 5.3 liter V8. It is a very fast car, but I never drive more than 75-80 mph. I do watch all the traffic around me and slow down at the first hint of trouble. Don't judge a driver by their car.

The driver going 5 mph below the speed limit in the left lane while talking or texting on the phone is more of a danger then the driver going 5-10 over the speed limit and paying attention to driving.

I have been burnt many times in my life and whether there is any merit to this or not, I have found that taking as hot of a shower as you can after a sunburn actually helps with the pain afterwards. It hurts like hell when the water first hits it, but I am guess it heats up the skin so when you are out, the cooler air helps soothe the skin. Similar to a sauna. Maybe its just me.

I do find that I often judge the drivers of minivans, smart cars and prius type eco cars. I also judge people who drive trucks with huge tires and intentionaly loud mufflers. I bet I can profile the owner and their driving habits with high accuracy. Altough I admit mini vans are way too prevelant now. Even some normal people dirve them......yes I am the founder of the "I Will Never Own a Minivan Club of America."

Driving a Grand Prix doesn't make you a jerk; I just notice that a lot of the jerks I see that aren't in Beemers or Mustangs happen to drive that model. Usually they're younger. And I don't mind people speeding. I mind the people who feel the need to tailgate at 80 mph, cut people off, and generally act like Richards when they drive.

You're confusing timecards with paychecks.

True true true...how true it is. It's absolutely "inattentive" driving that causes the majority of the accidents. The so called authorities and experts will still say that speed causes most accidents.

I commonly go 80 in a 65, eat a sandwich and talk on my phone while listening to music without even a close call because I pay attention to what the idiots around me are doing. I'm the greatest driver in the world.

I know I have said this one before, but people who continuously leave the sound on their phone turned up in a group of people. I do not want to hear the noises from the game you are playing or "Red Solo Cup" every time you get text message.... :chainsaw:

When the baseball team you're coaching is the #1 seed in the section, in the sub-section championship and the kids decide to make 6 errors, strike out 13 times (9 looking) and only get one flippin hit against a pitcher that was throwing 62 mph. :censored: :chainsaw: :censored:
