So how soon does he make the official announcement?

True. I miss having a manly man for a president.

I guess for an actor, cheerleader, and guy who like to dress like one of the Village People, Reagan was pretty "manly".

Newsweek probably called President Reagan lots of things, but they never called him "gay" like they have the current occupant.

I don't personally like the guy, but any real or perceived gayness (or secret Muslimness or place of birth) isn't on the list of reasons why. I prefer to focus on the real issues, like who may or may not have eaten dogs or bullied kids in grade school.

It's all a diversion and misdirection anyway. Anything other than actually examining his record.

I hope they examine the record. Mr. Obama has a lot to be proud of in his first four years in office.

Aside: I'm thinking more and more that Hilary will move onto the ticket and Biden will move to Sec. of State in the upcoming election. It'd be a way to excite the democratic base that seems to have lost some of it's Obama-fever. You've gotta believe the re-election team is thinking about it. What does everyone think? I'm 60/40 that it'll happen.

Its the real world, its not a tv show about politics. Even though politics is a dirty game and all about what you did for me yesterday, there hasn't been a VP who has been removed for a reelection campaign in a VERY long time, and I don't see any chance of it happening here. You don't make those kind of changes unless you are really desperate and grasping for straws, and that's not anywhere closer to the case here.

Hillary has already said she is leaving the administration at the end of term 1. She wants to distance herself from Obama so that if he is re-elected, or even if he loses, she can be looked at as separate from Obama for the purposes of potentially running in 2016. If she's VP, she is already polarizing enough + add whatever built up anger republicans will have after Obama's 2nd term and there is no way she wins in 2016. If she leaves she at least has a chance to either be the successor coming from outside the ranks, or the savior of the party in 2016 if he loses.

** Edit** I looked it up. The last VP change for a campaign came in 1976 when Ford dumped Rockerfeller for Dole in the election. They lost. The last successful VP change was FDR in 1944 swapping Wallace for Truman. But then again FDR had 3 VP's in his just over 3 terms

No kidding....

Added 5 Trillion plus to the deficit so far.
Skyrocketing energy prices. Which increases the prices of everything you buy.
Unemployment rate hasn't been under 8% his entire term in office.
Solyndra bankruptcy, costing taxpayers nearly $600,000,000.
Fast and Furious. One dead Border Patrol agent and scores of dead Mexicans.
Dismantling NASA.
42 million Americans on food stamps.
etc.....

Sadly the media is far more concerned with running interference for Obama as evidenced by the whole "gay" issue among other things.

So X, can you give us a rundown on the positives of the record that warrant four more years other than just stating he has a lot to be proud of.

I don't think his campaign feels the same way about the record as you do X factor. The major legislative accomplishment remains unpopular and has a good chance of being killed sometime in June. They also seem to be trying multiple coordinated media distraction campaigns, one after the other, to deflect attention away from the economy in particular. This was after they tried the class warfare/Buffet rule bit for awhile a few months ago. The media has become a caricature of themselves trying to keep up. Just off the top of my head, we've had the War on Women, Romney mistreated his dog, Don't raise my (student loan) rates!, Ann Romney never worked a day in her life, the president coming out for gay marriage the same day WaPo claims Romney bullied a kid who he thought was gay in school. You couldn't draw it up any nicer if you wanted to minimize discussion of your actual performance.

The X Factor wrote:I didn't want to get into it here, but since I'm being called out... I think the draw-down of the wars in Iraq / Afghanistan, the success of the stimulus plan (despite GOP efforts to make it as small as possible, the economy IS improving from the terrible hole it was in in the aftermath of the Bush administration. I suppose you can argue that the rate of improvement is too slow, but there is no way to factually back up that notion as we've never seen a recession quite like this one), the health care law (which is unpopular among a cohort of America and popular amongst another cohort), repealing DADT, eliminating OBL, creating a discussion surrounding income inequality AND marriage inequality, working with China on their unfair currency manipulations, and the resurgence of the American Auto industry are all things that I can think of off the top of my head that this administration can point to with pride. There have certainly been missteps, but to act like this has been four years in which nothing good happened to this country is disingenuous IMHO.

EDIT: This is a pretty cool website What the F*** has Obama done so far

Edit 2: looks like it won't let me post the link. If you search "what has Obama done" it's the first non-ad result I think.

Hey X, here's a few thoughts off the top of my head in response...

1) Drawdown of war in Iran & Afghanistan--Obama admin in large part chose to continue the plan developed by Bush Admin.

2) Please expand on the some of the successes of the stimulus. Especially on the improvement of the economy. Hasn't the shelf life on blaming the Bush Administration just about run it's course?

3) Obama Care-- According to just about every poll Obama Care is overwhelmingly unpopular. Very good chance of being struck down as unconstitutional.

4) DADT repeal? That's a winner politically? OK then.

5) Killing OBL. Any CIC given the same set of circumstances would have either captured or killed OBL. Killing OBL made sure that from an intelligence standpoint we didn't get as much as we could have. He should have been wrung dry like a wet sponge.

6) Income inequality. It isn't the job of the government to dictate what anyone can or can't make or to dictate that we all have incomes that are the same. This isn't Cuba.

7) Marriage inequality. At what time during the entirety of civilization has there ever been anything other than marriage being between a man and a woman? I don't think that's part of Obama's job description to redefine one of the foundational elements of society.

8)Chinese currency manipulation. What has the Obama administration done? What has been the effect?

9) Resurgent auto industry. Chevy Volt? Tesla Motors? Fisker Automotive? There are fewer GM and Chrysler manufacturing jobs in the US now than before. There were massive lay-offs as a result of Obama's restructuring effort. Massive unemployment as a result of the arbitrary closing of GM and Chrysler dealerships. Not to mention the bond holders were totally screwed in the GM and Chrysler restructuring as dictated by the Obama Administration. Majority ownership was handed to the unions. Hardly a winning issue for Obama.

X...you're right. You and Obama should be proud.

Wow that is a terrible standard to go by. At what time in the entirety of civilization has slavery not been around? Was Lincoln wrong to end it? Times change, just because you dont agree with it doesnt make it wrong.

Sorry Dan but if I were to engage with you on this discussion some people might get the vapors. Can't have that. Now you can go back to discussing bread and circuses. You know, stuff that really matters like b*tching about the new Vikings stadium and the (politically correct) politics surrounding that whole fiasco. :censored:

On second thought... :biggrin2:

Do they have anything on how 'easy' it is to read Internet message boards, like GPL compared to GopherHole?

I didn't go from political provocateur to visual comedian/GPL Chief Tastemaker overnight, but if I were you, I'd start transitioning soon.

Thank you for thinking I actually do something productive with my life outside of worshipping Obama, developing new and innovative ways to mock POI and 5 O.T., and moving up from being 10th funniest poster (on a good day) on GPL, but...actually yes, you are right, I have been working a lot more recently. I was hoping someone would post this in response to my demand of wanting the truth.

Facebook IPO set at $38 per share. Peter Thiel, the venture capitalist who invested $500,000 in the company back in 2004 and is selling nearly 17 million of his shares in the IPO, which means he'll get some $640 million. Damn!
