The scale tops out at just under $95k per year.
The cost of living is quite low - cheap groceries, cheap gas and cheap housing. The grocery prices are driven by HEB, a local powerhouse headquartered in SA (I had major sticker shock the first time I went to a non-HEB in Dallas). Gas prices are driven by refiners being based in SA. Housing is cheaper due to it never rocketing off like it did in other parts of the country. You can still get a very nice house in SA in a very nice part of town for under $150k.
...and we have no state income tax...
That all sounds good. Except the part about living in Texas.
