Season Ticket holder seat changes

We picked our two seats today in a $100 section {our previous seat location}. The seats next to us were also taken today, but both of us had problems with the system. For the tickets next to ours, the system wouldn't let them pick, it said they already picked their seats. They had to call. I got to pick my seats {our seats from last year} but the parking never showed up, I had to call. Still no e-mail confirmation on parking but it appears on my account page. {How's that computer science department coming at the U, have they heard of ITEL?}
We are good for now, but just be aware when selecting seats and call 612-624-8080 if you have problems. This is the 3rd seating change my 32 years. I wonder what is coming in 2022? This year let's hope they have a PA system that everyone can hear, if you are under an overhang you can't hear much from the PA. Can't we get the U of M's Mechanical Engineering Department to have a student project each year to improve the ice systems at the arenas, and the electrical engineering department students make improvements to the PA system each year? I noticed a DRASTIC improvement in the PA sound from the 2010-2011 season to last year. Two years ago, the sound was terrible. Very garbly, very loud, hard to understand anything. This year, you could hear Jamie perfectly (at least I thought so).

Good idea, except this technology has been (and is being) developed by the free market, and it's doubtful a bunch of hard charging IT geeks are gonna make substantial improvements. However, it would make for a fun project and a single idea could make it worth it.

If they go with the one big system they'll have to have stacks of speakers at center ice turned up to AC/DC levels to reach every corner of the arena. Imagine the ads blaring through when you're trying to yell at the refs. It's annoying.

On another note, earlier in this thread (I think it was this one) someone mentioned perks with beng a ticketholder and I was talking about my experience as a Twins ticketholder. I mentoned how perks weren't that big of a deal and were not expected, and that even though the Twins sent a "wishlist" to us every year, I never expected anything to come of it. Well, guess what. I ranked watching a game with a Twins alum as my #1 choice (from a list of like 40 things) and my name was drawn to watch next Wednesday's red sox game on the President's deck with Jack Morris. I guess 12 of us had our names drawn and I assume they picked from those who named that as their top choice. Pretty cool, I think its a nice gesture esp as the Twins aren't lighting it up so far this year.

Back on topic...I really just hope to end up somewhere near sec 16

Probably only need about 10-15 Access points for the use they'd get, maybe even less. Charge $5/game, let the video stream on it. There is no great magic in making good ice in an arena but Mariucci was a design-build job by what is now Opus and was Ruanhorst back then. They skimped on the building system and they have problems with soft ice when the temp and dewpoint inside the arena get too high. Which will happen when it's full and/or the temp and dewpoint outside go up. The only thing a ChemE can bring to this is you get better ice using deionized water (and the design of the refrigerant itself).

In other news, we selected this morning and opted to add $100/ticket to our costs. We have been in Section 23 since the arena opened but I decided to go to the end the Gophs shoot at twice. I bought in 15 and moved to the side of the section closer to the center ice than where we are now. We'll still be looking through the net for the near goal but will see most of the ice past the edge of the net.

There was maybe one or two games all year that I felt it would be difficult to leave our seats in the third period to take in the game at the opposite end. If those seats are available in 24 or 2 for that matter, I would snap them up....just don't go too high or you're looking through the netting.

Looks like we'll be continue to be close. We're moving from 24 Row 13 (and looking through the net to the other end was brutal) to 15 row 9. We should be good to be looking through the glass at the near end and be able to have the angle to not look through the net at the opposing end. We'er excited.

I'm currently in section 24 (row 16) and pick on Friday. Do you know how low you have to be without looking through the net? I like sitting in the end because I can watch the plays develop. Thanks for your input.

I had tickets in section 15, row 8 for a couple years. Like JWG said, you can see the Gophers attack zone through the glass, and the other end of the rink clearly without netting in the way. If you can get closer to section 16 than section 14, that will help, we were 2 seats from the aisle and I thought the seats were great.

Yes, I got that email and it will be interesting. I have the highest priority number and I'm not sure really what difference that will make in the end. I can only assume that like the past years, all four lower corners will be blocked out for the individual schools, the lower center sections will be NCAA seats, corpies and college alumni and admin seats, and the club level will also be reserved, so our seat "choices" will still probably be in the upper levels. I would be happy to pick my own seats as some that are assigned really suck. 2 years ago we moved to the center but in the very last row of the highest level. Cripes we had a cement wall behind us and a steep pitch. It almost gave me vertigo.

Did the EXACT same thing...out of 24 and into 15 in the $100 corner seats...row 5...sight line through the glass not the net with a pretty good view down the rink and excellent view of the net. I will say to anybody thinking they're gonna get hosed that my row5, seats 5,6 in Sec 24 were very good. There was maybe one or two games all year that I felt it would be difficult to leave our seats in the third period to take in the game at the opposite end. If those seats are available in 24 or 2 for that matter, I would snap them up....just don't go too high or you're looking through the netting.

I'm currently in section 24 (row 16) and pick on Friday. Do you know how low you have to be without looking through the net? I like sitting in the end because I can watch the plays develop. Thanks for your input.

I would be guessing just a little but I would say around row 8-9 would be close to the seam of the glass and the netting. Row 5 was all glass and the netting does not come into play at all. I seem to recall some description on the seat selection website that helps shed light on the glass, netting etc.

We picked ours today. I guess the University proved us wrong as the available seats in the no donation area are quite high.

We did move, so we must have taken someone's seats. It will be odd to watch from a new location.

I don't think they did. From the sounds of it, there are plenty of people that are deciding to just forfeit their tickets instead of jumping to the no-donation areas.

That could be as I was amazed at the number of seats available in several areas. Though surprised at how quickly the $300 seats filled comparatively to other areas.

We moved out of a no donation area (Section 24) into a $100 area (Section 15). For us, this was perfect - got us around the corner for better viewing of the opposite end AND puts on in the end the Gophers attack twice.

Whatever you do, do not pick row 6. The view from there has the bottom edge of the netting obstructing the sight of the action on the far end of the rink.

Typically I've sat in rows 4 or 5, but I have sat in row 8, which did have a disappointing view, but it wasn't terrible.

Seems like all the predictions of the $300 and $200 seats being all that would be left to pick from are not coming true. Not much left at all in the $300 price range.

I remember the early projections for what the donations were going to be were higher than what they went with too. I remember reading on here that the highest was going to be $500. I don't remember if it was good info or not, but if that was going to be the total, I bet a lot more people would've shied away from that area.

I wonder how many of those 3067 will fill up. I wonder what the U is projecting and whether they are happy with what they see. I am not saying that critically I really am curious.

I think you will start to see more non donation seats go about now. It seems though most of the higher Gopher Points people took the chance to move up or stay the same. Perhaps to them it was like it was for Hobey, a massive discount over the previous donation.

We are some of those people that upgraded our seats. We used to be in 16, but someone had already taken our old seats. So we moved over to section 17. Would have preferred 18 at same donation level but all that was left was top row.
I'm also a little bummed 16 was a $200 section with the netting there. I think I would have stayed there if it had been, but to only pay $200 more per year to get away from the netting? sure.

Not sure how many more days of selection there are. This was my first year, so I am one of the last to pick on May 2nd, late in the afternoon. There are only about 150 people (340 seats) to pick that are behind me. I am wondering if there are selection dates over the weekend? Or is only on weekdays? So it would just be today, Monday, and then Tuesday that are left?

So will single game tickets next year all be the same price, as they are now? It'll be kind of annoying to know that you paid an additional $200 or $300 for your seat and then have someone walk up and buy the seat right next to you for less.

I cant imagine they would raise the single game ticket price...face value is face value. That is the risk you run buying season tickets and making a donation. It is also why a lot of us said we would rather just buy tickets to the games we want to go to and save money on the rest by not getting them. It isnt like it used to be where getting ticket was difficult unless you wanted to overpay a scalper, last year they were running Groupons. Without much effort you can find a ticket to any game you want, and if it isnt UND most likely you can find it at face or lower. Not to mention there is SRO which when I looked last year was always available.

Chill. Most of us were forced to move around and there are a lot of seats left throughout the arena, no one area has been filled. With the exception of center ice, there's decent seating left in most spots.

We moved from 10 to 16 - basically the same attack zone seats (same row and everything) but on the other side. It will be interesting to be on the penalty box side after so many years on the bench side.

Yeah, I know. It's just sad that the seats I've had since I was 5 years old won't be the ones I'll be sitting in anymore.

I think this process would have gone INFINITELY smoother if the current seatholders had "right of first refusal" - if you want to keep the seats you have, you can but you need to pay the mandatory donation corresponding to wherever your seats are. If you want to pay that donation, you can keep your seats. If not, they go into the pot and you get to go into the reseating process. I know that would have satisfied me, anyways. I miss my seats already
