I'll throw this here since it pertains to players for this same birth year (1996). The USHL is holding their "Futures Draft" tomorrow evening for '96 birth years. Looks like they will be making a big production out of it this year (STORY). Doubtful if Gopher reruits will make as big a splash as last year's draft when recruits (weren't actually recruits at the time of the draft) Taylor Cammarata, Gabe Guertler and Michael Brodzinski went first, second and seventh.

It's a "USA Hockey" program to identify top talent in the various age groups. There is a Select 14 national camp also, but Minnesota does not participate in that one.

Pretty sure he Misspoke, as none of the NTDP kids are on this team...typically this squad is made of kids who aren't committed to the NTDP to give them a chance at some international experience.

The Five Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic kicks off soon. The U.S. team picked from the Select 16 Festival has an exhibition game tomorrow morning before starting tournament play on Wednesday.

Some of you on the board (like me) that have a few years behind you might remember the Sports Illustrated cover below. Joe Dudek's son is a forward on the team roster.
