Potato, potatoe. You paid for it when you purchased the club pass.

The bill is great for hockey and basketball, and football has ways of being extremely good. Long overdue, unfortunately.

We're on the same side. I'm just trying to understand the nuances of the bill (which is not easy). The new law does not seem to place any restrictions on how it can be sold/given away at Mariucci or Williams.

Sorry for coming across rude. I was trying to be clever but failed-- tone doesn't carry well over the intertubes.

But you're right-- there aren't any restrictions tied to TCF Bank Stadium any further. Which is good for hockey and basketball, which can go back to the pre-stadium operations. Since both Mariucci and Williams were basically funded or substantially renovated without state dollars, the rationale for the alcohol in the cheap seats doesn't apply in the same way it does for the stadium.

But you are reading it correctly.

To prolong this conversation a little more, I have a theory/prediction . The Club Room used to give away beer because they could not sell it. Now that they are able to sell it again, my bet is beer will be back at the club room but will no longer be free. (I know...I'm really going out on a limb here. )

I think it may be an appropriate time to start some predictions regarding which Minnesota brew (or brewery) will pony up the dollars to be the "official" beer of TCF Bank Stadium.

My prediction = Grain Belt (Schell)

I don't really care if I am right or not, that's just what I am going with. It is just too bad it couldn't be Hamm's. :(

The law states that there must be at least one Minnesota beer. Nothing prohibits multiple beers. You will most likely have at least 2. My guess is Premo and Summit EPA will both be available.

This might sound like a stupid question as someone that is not against the proposal, but what are the pros to allowing alchohol to be sold during UM sporting events? What I mean is outside of the obvious 'gain' for some fans and possibly revenues, does it improve ticket sales and fan participation? I'm not asking the question as a prude as I don't mind a brew or two at a Wild or Twins game, but I've honestly not missed it during Gophers games (fb, h and bb) and really wonder why it's such big deal? Again not asking from a prudent point of view, but rather I wonder what in the end it improves. Perhaps because I tend to go to such games with my kids that my view is skewed. I honeslty don't care either way I can choose not to drink there so maybe I don't even need to ask but the thought crossed my mind. :)

The U believes a big drop-off in suite and club sales is because they can no longer drink in the suites and clubs. Whether true, or not, is yet to be seen.

Bottom line: I believe it adds a great deal of concession revenue also.

From a fan standpoint, it provides options. Many people enjoy having a beer at a college sporting event, just like you [Slap Shot] at pro events. For example, I enjoy having a beer or two on a Friday or Saturday night when watching a game; I prefer college hockey; I would enjoy the option of having a beer at a college hockey game. I don't see much of a difference between the two levels of sports events (at least anymore, as college sports have become almost pro-like in what you pay, how they're run, how they're promoted, etc. - so I don't fall for the "no alcohol, this is an educational/collegiate based sporting contest").

I suppose the con would be the occasional drunk at the games, but you'll find those at events with "No Alcohol", i.e. NCAA West Regional. But drunk fans can also be some of the most vocal sports fans, and lets be honest, some times the environment created by the fans can have a lot of influence on the fan experience and even the game itself.

The guy's name is Ben, so isn't the inevitable statute called "Ben's Law"?

Ben's Law states that kegs are no longer allowed to explode.

I used to buy several suites/year. Since the alcohol ban, I was able to get out of my multi-year contract. I have yet to see the suites full since the ban.

We also had club passes. The biggest benefit to the passes was better bathrooms and free beer/wine. Once the ban kicked in, the club passes had no significant advantage, so we got rid of those as well.

I applaud the fact you said "if true", and agree with you completely.

I listened to a small bit of the video. Though their behavior was not appropriate, I heard no bullying going on. All I heard was the dad saying that it was bullying.

From the small bit I listened to, it was teachers using poor judgement talking about teachers lounge stuff in front of the students.

I decided not to watch or listen to the rest as it was going to be disturbing either way.

I watched the whole video. They call the kid a bastard and it is easily heard. The majority of the bullying is in the second half of the clip. I think you also have to take into consideration that this kid is autistic and does need some special treatment that many kids his age would not.

They at least got rid of any teacher identified on the recordings. According to what I read elsewhere, the district fired all but one of them, the sole exception being tenured and was reassigned to one of the high schools doing Parise knows what. Since these events occurred back in February, the fact that this teacher is still around may be why the father is going on the blitz he's had for the last few days.

Hearing that one of these folks knowingly and intentionally frightened the kid into believing he was never going to see his dad again made me want to punch them, so I completely understand a nonviolent autistic kid lashing out.

The most upsetting part about this is that some people I know from high school who went on to becoming K-12 educators either are looking for new jobs or recently were looking that would love to work with special needs kids and that more than likely there are people in similar situations who feel the same in NJ, yet some of these jobs went to people who just didn't care.

On the other hand, it's a pretty sure fire way around the ole' "I found somebody better" talk.

Shouldn't it be up to kids and parents of the kids whether or not they work on farms?

Don't worry. The house will kill it.

It is disturbing that the labor department thinks that A) this is a good idea, and B) this is any of their business.

After reading through that, and assuming the exemptions for family farms are true, I wonder what the point is. How many people will be affected by a child farm labor law that doesn't apply to family farms and allows for vague "helping your neighbors" too? Either they are overstepping their bounds or are marking themselves as a department that has way too much time on their hands.

I have a 10 year old autistic son and I can't even bring myself to listen to this. I t would no doubt anger me, but being angry will not help son. Paying attention to and helping my son with his autism a much better use of energy.

Also, for these ignorant teachers and aides involved in this situation, there are thousands of caring and patient teachers and aides that help autistic children learn many things.

What if an Uncle, grandfather or other family member owns the farm? Probably not going to fly. They have to much time on their hands (labor department).

http://www.unitedliberty.org/articles/9 ... mily-farms

“Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read, “would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.”

The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.

"More government intrusion. Private organizations such as the FFA and 4-H club that have, for decades, successfully done safety training and certification are now to be stripped of that ability in favor of a 90 hour course taught by the same government that gave us the TSA. And, of course, with any government training, you have to wonder how much it will cost and how much of it will be worthwhile training and how much indoctrination."

Finally escaping this nightmare. No more @gopherpucklive clowns for me. The better realities await!

I must be really not paying attention around here because I have no idea what this is about.... So why is this place a nightmare for Lars?

Because John Henry didn't come and get us all hammered?

I was going to post a seemingly appropriate vid from Monk where Doctor Kroger starts singing about John Henry before it goes horribly wrong, but didn't have a change to look for it over the weekend.

If Wisconsin-Madison is the state's most prestigious university and the state itself is known as The Dairy State, does that mean UW is Bovine University?

See I disagree with that premise. We can't get fireworks any day of the week. Most people are smart enough to buy liquor ahead of time.

Fireworks are a once a year deal.
