Blaming the goof and his sensationalism is a lot more fun. Besides, most of the time he's acting like it's the snow event of the year while others are much more tempered in their analysis.

When driving back up from Rochester today, I watched a kid lose control of his car, go backwards into the median just as he got to an emergency vehicle u-turn spot, and literally get air going backwards. It was a tad icy.

Just drove from Maplewood to Hudson. 94 isn't too bad, took me a couple extra minutes. The worst place was my back yard. Water can't drain into the ground, so there's 4 inches of water everywhere. Hope it evaporates tomorrow, supposed to be 36.

I saw something funny the morning after the last snow here in Ames: the city didn't have the plows out yet, but they did have the meter maids in their trucks driving around brushing the snow off the meters so they could give parking tickets. Lets you know where their priorities are.

I got up at 4:00 this morning to shovel/snow blow before work due to the certainty that we were getting 4-8 inches. I was just heading downstairs to suit up and thought I should survey the damage. Not a single flake. Weatherdotcom, massive fail.

Got a good work out shoveling this morning before work. I have more then the average size sidewalk and driveway. It's big enough, I reallly should snowblow it, but I have always like the exercise of shoveling.

Good question... However, I have complete faith in the population that my wallet will be found, the credit cards used, and the two single dollar bills taken and spent on alcohol, illicit drugs, or something else that won't benefit society in any way whatsoever.

I couldn't believe how bad Plymouth roads were. 55, 169, etc were terrible. I finally just took side streets when in that area today.

Funny. I just finished up the last 1/4 which included the half melted uberslush plow section. It feels like I got punched in the chest.

This snow/slush crap was very heavy. Went out and did the driveway this morning and then did the patio this afternoon. I was sweating pretty hard despite wearing only shorts and a t-shirt.

Nope. Minnetonka. :D Very close to Plymouth, though.

And yes, 55 was terrible in Plymouth today. It's one of the worst-kept roads during/after a snowstorm. However, my Jeep took on the roads like a champ this morning.

When did Minnetonka become Cake Eater Land? :confused2: Maybe Nouveau Cake Eater Land, but not THE Cake Eater Land. :poke: That's Edina.

Nope, Cake Eater isn't a generic term. It applies only to Edina. Always has, always will. :club:

Wanna-be's from Minnetonka, Mound, Wayzata or Orono may try to latch onto the term as though they too can be Cake Eaters but it just isn't possible. That's revisionism of the worst kind to call anybody but Edina, Cake Eaters.

Cake eaters is for Edina only, that is correct sir. Maybe the others can eat quiche, canapes or tarts, but NOT cake. And I won't eat tarts, you could seriously catch something, just saying :biggrin2:

Growing up, it was always Minnetonka (due to the rich folks on the lake) and Edina as Cake Eaters. I agree on the "neo-Cake Eaters" of those other cities, though.

Always Has, Always Will?

Postby middhockey66 » Thu 3/01/12 2:32 pm

Au contraire, mon frere. The original term "Cake Eaters" was given to Washburn partially as a nod to the Millers nickname, but also in reference to the area being a fertile breeding ground for the upwardly mobile Edinians (Edinaites?) in training.

Fact. Go up to Russ Anderson and tell him differently.

What you say makes sense about Washburn. Back when Hwy 100 was the beltline.

But in no way shape or form was Minnetonka ever refered to as Cake Eaters. I have several friends that played for Minnetonka and they'd be awfully surprised and likely insulted to be called Cake Eaters. :censored:

Because The Rube said the weather was bad in cake eater land. It went off on a tangent from there. Basically trying to point out which affluent area was the real cake eater land. I know it's off topic. But I just couldn't let it stand referring to Minnetonka as cake eater land. Blasphemy.

Weather is pretty nice today BTW. :D
