Bittner is a little on the raw side, but has big potential. He's already 6'5".

Do the Gophs have their eye on any of these uncommited seniors?

Can't wait to hear the spin from Sconnie on this one.

There really isn't anything to spin. Not in terms of the Gophers anyway. Doesn't mean he won't be a good player there but anybody can take one look at our current depth chart and the recruits already slated to come in and it is clear there is simply no roster space for any kid next year (and maybe 2013).

The NBA?
Duluth seems to have a knack for landing players whose father's played a professional sport that wasn't hockey.

I'm trying to think of an MN recruits that bolted to WHL before they played for the U. The only one I can think of, IIRC, is Peter Mueller? Have there been others?
p.s. I know we have lost some midseason like O'Brien and Birkholz.
Hammy wrote:Roed had academic issues. Mueller really wanted to be a Gopher but couldn't handle the academics to get himself here sooner. IMO, O'Brien was a complete tool in how he handled things. Lying right to the face of the coach? Wow. Class act there.
Lofquist is the most recent. Obviously his was a playing time issue.
I'll really never really understand why some of these people think the CHL is clearly better. You see players that are sometimes barely making it playing marginal roles in college leave for a CHL team and do well. Even some USHL guys do the same. What does that tell you? It tells me you have to push yourself harder to succeed in college hockey than you do in the CHL. At least you do if you are a 18 to 20 year old.
Hammy wrote:In that case, Mueller is the only one that comes to mind.
As I mentioned, I wouldn't be totally stunned if Michaelson does it. Not saying he will but I won't be shocked if it happens.

Ages ago but Langenbrunner went to WHL instead of the Gophers. Although he may have planned that all along and never committed to Gophers.

Was speaking to friends in South Minneapolis yesterday and they told me that Grant Beese of Benilde-St. Margarets verbaled to the Badgers the other day - and that Jake Horton also of BSM, was yearning to go east too. They know the parents of both and (aside from being ardent Badgers fans themselves) seemed to be credible witnesses. I got home last night and checked Chris Heisenberg, and sure enough, he lists it 1/9/12. Too bad, as what I had been able to see of his play impressed. we have lots of instate talent, and can't get or keep 'em all, I know, but Zajac, Horn and Beese were the top three I was hoping might find a way onto the team somehow. That they go RED is the worst part, of course.

A full ride as well. I guess to each their own but that's a pretty steep price to pay for this kid.

Is this the coach's kid they were gushing over on t.v. the other night?
