Have fun, hate the lead singer voice but they're very talented musician's. Neil Peart is easily one of the best drummer's in the world.

was, as usual, a great concert. Neil is a drumming PARISE and while some can't stand Getty's voice, I love it. I was in P4, a bit off to the side so I couldn't see the intro dealio and they cut off the end on the side screens at "halftime", but I look forward to this concert at the "X" when it comes this fall/winter.

Going to see Apocalyptica tomorrow at First Ave. They got their break doing Metallica covers, but have since evolved and done their own songs. They started off as a gimmick being a hard rock/metal group performing on cellos and have become a very popular act in their own right. Guessing most of the folks here will be of the older generation who may not enjoy this music. here are a few links to some of their songs for those interested:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbTozgoj9OQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxDcWvZCSRg
this third one isn't a music video, just one a fan put together.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJumvqm0qqo

But they're a group that cares a lot about their fans. They even broadcast their concert from Tuesday in st. louis night live on Facebook. Not many bands that i'm familiar with would do that while they're kicking off a tour for their new album.

Going to see Roger Waters perform "The Wall" tonight with my two sons. Should be an interesting evening. I can still remember the hype when the album came out in 1979. Rumor has it David Gilmour might be in town - we shall see.

Anyone go to "an evening with CAKE" last night? It was my first time seeing them. Pretty interesting show. No openeing band. No set list. They had an intermission. They gave away a honeycrisp apple tree. Crowd participation. I had fun. Oh, and it was at the State theatre. Excellent venue.

I had a few friends go to see Bob Seger at the X. They said it was cool as well.

I brought my daughter to Taylor Swift at the X last night. Not particularly my kind of music but the "show" was phenomenal. The stage was constantly changing. Taylor played at both ends of the arena. She ended the show in a contraption that rotated in the air over most of the venue. She had 8 different outfits throughout the night. The band and dancers were also changing outfits. Cool lighting, faux snow falling from the ceiling, pyrotechnics, trapeze/bungee dancers, performers popping up from under the stage, etc, etc...

But here is the best part: The line to the women's restroon was about 50 feet outside the actual entrance to it. As I walked between the people in that line to get to the men's room, I thought to myself, "this isn't a Wild game, what's up?" When I got into the men's room, I could not see another soul. All I could hear was some dude in a stall pulling paper from the roll. Not one guy standing at a urinal. Wow.

Wifey and I celebrated our anniversary by being in the 5th row at Carrie Underwood at Mystic on Saturday. She mentioned a hockey player and I yelled out "I'm a 4th liner but I love you!" she actually talked to me during the show! I wish I had video of it. I said my wife thought her hubby was dreamy and she agreed. I asked for a double date :D

Was anyone else there? Does anyone have video of it by chance? It was after All American Girl

The encore of Walk This Way/Paradise City was awesome too.

I saw the Foo Fighters a few years back at Xcel with Weezer and I enjoyed them a lot. I had one minor problem and that was that Dave Grohl would not shut up between songs. He would just talk and talk and the show seemed to drag on because he was talking so much. Did he do the same last night or was he just in a particularly talkative mood when I saw him?

Tim, as a metal fan I should mock the crap out of you....but, I have heard from NUMEROUS people that he puts on a hell of a show. My junior high wrestling coach missed a meet one time because he had tickets to a Neil Diamond concert, he was kind of a fan. I would go see Neil before I would ever see a country concert! I saw Neil Diamond two years ago. Frankly I was disappointed with the show. It should have been an epic concert and it wasn't.

The audience age was across the board, as was the attire (but all very tame). That was really the only thing memorable.

I really dislike these guys. I don't get the draw of them at all. I hated their former drummers style of playing, his double cymbal playing was like nails on a chalkboard. I HATE M.Whatshisname's vocals, they too are like nails on a chalkboard. Their guitarists are the best thing about them and then M.Iamaterriblesinger starts in and ruins it. This band reminds me of all the bands back in the late 80's that record companies would shove into the mainstream hoping they would stick, and unfortunately this band did like a wad a gum under a table.

Wife and I are performing our version of an Opus Dei self-flogging ceremony by taking the urchin to Nickelodeon's Fresh Beat Band concert on March 1st. I get my karmic retribution on May 19th with Van Halen. So it works out in the end.

They didn't seem weird with each other even though they are scrapping their tour at the end of June?

Dave's voice was bleah, but what else is new? Concert was amazing. Eddie Van Halen is the reason I picked up a guitar, and played the best I've ever seen him play.

We thought DLR seemed somewhat disinterested- I'm not a huge fan of any lead singer reciting lyrics of songs rather than singing them, but I'd agree on the B+ grade. Eddie is simply amazing to watch in person - you have not lived until you witness Eruption live. Wolfie has improved since the last time they were here, and I was impressed with his background vocals.

... and I got to cross "watch Kool and the Gang play "Celebration"" off my bucket list. Fun night at the X

Friday night at the Basilica was a downer due to the weather.

Train had energy and a vibe. The crowd was into it but the performance lasted only an hour because of an impending storm (lightning and rain).

I thought it was good. Not great. Could've been our seats (as far to the right of the stage as you can get), or the people around us (nobody really got into it), or the fact that I'm not a Kenny Chesney fan and he was the last act (the guy needs to learn a new motion with his hand and not look like he's trying to be the next rapper...and needs to stop pulling his hat down constantly). The worst part was the echo of the stadium...not much you can do about it, though, and I got used to it after awhile. But yeah, like I said...good, not great. I know there are others there that'll say it was the best concert experience of their lives. For me, not anywhere near that.

It certainly wasn't the best concert ever.....but I'd say it was better than good. It was GREAT!!! :D I'm a country fan, but not a Tim McGraw fan. He bores me....just stand there and sings his boring songs. But he was ok. Kenny has a ton of energy and that's what I love about him. He comes out giving 100% and you can tell he loves being on stage! Our seats were on the floor by the platform. Pretty good seats. We thought it sounded great!! If you've got lame people around you at any concert I think it can suck the life out of you. Bummer you weren't in more of a party section. We all had a blast!! I'd definitely go to another show at Target Field. Great show.....but yes....it could have been better. Honestly....my favorite performer was Jake Owen. He opened the show and rocked it! And I am now a fan of Grace Potter. Amazing voice.

Did he sing the song about a girl leaving him at the altar? How about the one cherishing the simple things in life? An ode to a pickup truck?

Hmmm....not familiar with those songs. But he did sing "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". :D Yes i know it's silly.....but that's why it's fun!! I don't like my music to be serious all the time. May I recommend you take a listen to "The Boys of Fall". Pretty good song.

Went to both Bruce show's .. the guy is unreal. He played 3 + hours both nights with a great mix of old and new songs.

Seemed to have some renewed energy with some younger guys added to the E Street Band like Jake Clemons (Sax player like uncle Clarence).

I do have to say that Sunday's audience was old and Mondays much younger. I am 45 and can say i was one of 10 people under 50 at Sundays show.
