Yes! Welcome to the Breaking Bad family. You have until July to catch up through season 3....and you could be live with the rest of us for #4. It's disappointing because we've had them beginning in Feb/March the past couple years, but hopefully it's worth the wait...

Did anyone watch Infested last night on Animal Planet. Basically a show about mass animal infestations, mostly in people's homes. I couldn't turn it off.

I'm glad to have Californication back on Showtime. And their new show Shameless was pretty solid in its' debut last night as well.

I was flipping though the channels and landed on it right when they were showing the "Mouse Plague" Holy Crap!!! That shot of a virtual SEA of mice pouring over that field was enough to cause nightmares. It looked like a scene out of a horror movie. Didn't help when I woke up this morning and front page of the Strib has a story on more mice invading houses this winter. :ahhh:

Keith Olbermann finally got the axe today. How he ever lasted this long on any station is beyond me. Any time I ever saw him, I don't think I ever once saw him use clear reasoning or proper judgment.

I wonder if it was the "Palin caused the Arizona shooting" bs that cost him his job. If MSNBC starts reporting real news in that hour, I might have to start watching!!

Olbermann was a schmuck, but that is par of the course for so much of politically charged television these days. Political commentary is one thing, but balls out one-sidedness has been a bane to discourse going on at least a decade now and MSNBC is the just one of the culprits. Sad really.

All-"news" channels suck.

They used to serve a purpose. Now? Bah. Not "meh." BAH. It's sad when I get more unbiased general (not panda-bear-in-a-zoo) news from the various boards I'm on, and most of which have to do with sports. Actually, that's more than sad. It's horrendous.

Word.

I gave up on them. There are better things to do with my time than watch "experts" scream talking points at each other on a "news" program. I'm sick of tabloid TV. I'm sick of MSNBC finding every possible left wing angle. I'm sick of everything on Fox. Further, do any of the women who work for Fox own anything other than miniskirts? Have any of the MSNBC folks considered anger management?

I'll pass on all of it and get my news from reliable sources like GPL.

"Kids" is probably the number one movie in the category "Every Teen Should See, But I Would Not Want Any Teen To Watch It."

I've watched it once, and that was more than enough. And I'm glad I saw it.

No my question was serious, how much did they pay Lucas to use his concept? (Especially for a feature that is not new as several people pointed out) He is quite well known for being very litigous in dealing w/ people who use SW images or the idea so I"m sure VW paid through the nose for this. The Darth Vader character, the music, the lightsaber sound at the end, they paid for all of it as George owns copyright on everything dealing w/ SW. And as a side note; the look on the moms face as she slides over the sandwich is hilarious. No smile, just that look of "how'd I end up w/ such a weird kid"?

Has anyone been watching Shameless on Showtime? Like Dexter, not a show for everyone, but I’ve found it quite captivating. After just five episodes they’ve covered the entire spectrum from downright depressing to completely hilarious. Macy is quite good as are most of the characters. Seeing the family work together like a well oiled machine maneuvering their way through life’s challenges makes for a good show. It will be interesting to see where the writers take the show from here.

I’ve also finally gotten to see most of season five of Dexter. Different from prior seasons but still very much enjoyable to watch. Almost at the end and looking forward to season six.
My father established our relationship when I was seven years old. He looked at me and said, "You know, I brought you in this world, and I can take you out. And it don't make no difference to me, I'll make another one look just like you." -Bill Cosby.

I think Dexter could go under "guilty pleasures". The first season is downright disturbing. I had to force myself to watch the first few episodes as a co-worker said it takes a while to get into the show. Not that it was bad, but rather the violence was "up close and personal" and not the norm for a TV Series. Glad I stuck it out.

I just finished the final season of Friday Night Lights. If you have time and want to watch a great TV show, I would highly suggest this. You can find seasons 1-4 on Netflix instant watch so it's not necessary to buy the DVD's or anything. The series is loaded great moments and great acting, especially from Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. Just a great all around TV show.

This is what's coming up on the next season of Top Gear. If you're lucky, you can catch episodes on YouTube before the BBC forces them to be pulled down. The Christmas special (season 16, episode 1) is quite possibly the best episode they've ever done.

Here's an interesting take from a buddy of mine that flies international commercial flights.

He tells us about all of the systems that he had lost which contradicts his last statement about the greatness of the A380.. I wonder if he's ever flown a well engineered jet or would even know one if he saw it? Part of the engineering process is imagining what can go wrong and making those problems non fatal before they happen.. Like they used to say, if anything can go wrong, IT WILL!!

I don't know about the new B787 as it's a new design (a little scary to me) but the old Boeings wouldn't leave you hanging like with an unpowered system. Boeing's electrical systems are excellent as there is always power available to the "essential" buses. The Boeing 777 had backups for for the backups and sometimes even a fourth power source.

Out of the Wild: Venezuela. For anyone who didn't watch the first season of this show which was Out of the Wild: Alaska, I highly recommend it. It is like survivor in a way except their are no rewards for completing the mission. Just the satisfaction of knowing you completed it. It is raw and quite entertaining. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Saw him on Leno when he was really just starting to become known and finally saw him a few years ago and he is the absolute best.

I DVR'd "Happy Thoughts" last night and have yet to watch it.

I'm a big fan of Tosh.0, though I always thought Tosh's stand up was pedestrian. I'll have to check out Happy Thoughts to see if my opinion changes.

Yes, The Big Bang Theory is pretty funny. One of the shows I make sure I catch every week.

I like Tosh.0 as well, but the hilarity has kind of been dampened a bit for me. A couple of my friends went and saw him late last year when he was at the Varsity Theater. They could not stop talking about how big of an a-hole he was. He would stop in the middle of a joke to yell at someone who looked at their cellphone and had them kicked out. He kept saying things like "Only 30 more minutes of this place" as he was looking at his watch. There were just a lot of examples of the worst things he could do to make a show not enjoyable. Maybe he was just having a bad day or something, but hearing stories about him acting like that make it hard to really enjoy his work.

Heard the same thing about him at the Varsity.

I saw Tosh at the Pantages a few years ago...and he was great. He even came out afterward and met anyone and everyone that wanted to meet him and get an autograph or pic. So, he must've just been having a bad day at the show at the Varsity...OR...his show has given him a bit of an ego and maybe he thought he should be playing somewhere bigger than the Varsity?

Hedberg's a legend. Not sure many will ever be able to be mentioned in the same breath as him.

They showed a clip of Tosh booting someone yelling at an audience member during one his recent shows, though that guy was completing jokes out loud, so it was understandable.

I just finished season one of Mad Men. You have to be a little patient with it, as it has a slow pace to start. However, you always get the feeling that they're building to something and the show takes on new dynamics with each passing episode. It's different from what you mostly see on television these days and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the story unfold. 8)

It's definitely one of those shows where it takes a season to find it's rhythm. When it starts to get going in the second season, there hasn't been much better on TV. Enjoy.

I don't know why but I started watching Celebrity Apprentice again this season.

I'll tell ya...they could make a reality show just following Gary Busey around. The guy is definitely a tad :crazy1:

AMC and "Mad Men" creator Matt Weiner finally reached a deal that will put the show back on the air for at least 2 more seasons. This is great news for one of the two best TV shows out there, Breaking Bad being the other. The only bad part is that there's no way they're going to get the show ready for it's usual time slot of August-October. It might have to be January until we see it or even later.

Has anyone been watching "The Killing" on AMC? They're two episodes in (three hours of show) and I think it has some potential to be really good. It's a murder mystery that's hopefully going to solve the one murder throughout the entire season. If you can catch up on it, I would highly suggest it.

Been watching "Brotherhood" (Showtime series). It's only 3 seasons long (now done with), but I've heard they actually "end" the series and tie things up.

Am 2/3 into the first season, and I LOVE it. Main plot is that it's set in Providence RI, Irish working class neighborhood, and one brother is a politician while the other is mobbed up.

To my surprise, they use the mob to touch up the politics side, rather than the other way around. HEAVY on the politics, but it works.

Huh, I figured this show dealt with Miami's hockey dynasty the last five or sex years. Guess I might actually have to look into watching it now.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before in this thread, but "The League" (about a group of guys in FFL) is friggin' hilarious. Can't wait until season 2 is on Netflix.

And "Breaking Bad" season 4 is set to start on July 17th.

Definitely not a 2010/11 season thing, but The Rockford Files is now on Netflix.

It's interesting that episode one had a different Rocky. The new and improved Rocky showed up on episode 2.

There are some classics on Netflix streaming. I have in my queue (and not ashamed to admit it) the animated GI Joe series from the 80's.

Question for the tv folk: if I were to watch a series, would I choose Sons Of Anarchy or The Shield? I'm only choosing one until I am finished with the series (or current, as the case may be, as I think SOA is still going on). I prefer to only watch 2 series at a time (and with Breaking Bad's new season coming up, that is 1).

Go.

The Shield. Shawn Ryan is a good writer and you can actually finish the series. SOA is still going on, it finished it's 3rd season late last year and will still go for a couple of season. Unless you like watching a show that's currently on and waiting week to week, The Shield should be your pick.

Waiting is no issue, but timing is. What time is SOA normally showing? That would probably be key...

I should have specified, as my work schedule is not the 9-5 variety.

Example: The League was Thu at 10, sorta worked. Breaking Bad was Sundays at 9, worked. IRT was Sundays at 8, worked. :)

SOA is shown at 9 on Thursdays I believe. I could be wrong on that though. Honestly, just get a DVR or the equivalent of whatever your TV service you get. I never watch anything live and it is well worth the $10 a month.

* DVR. Not worth the additional money, IMO. Only have recently converted to a tv/series watcher (besides sports) and for tv stuff, I can wait, thanks to Netflix. And even then, I'm specific in tastes. I probably will go with The Shield, though, since is has been ended. And just bide my time with it. More recommendations (from here and friends) and I can finish it when I so please.

I finished watching all of (so far) the episodes of "Game of Thrones" last night.

Excellent stuff. The "HBO GO" website is also excellent.

I very much recommend it. The show has everything a hockey fan could want - violence, nudity, drinking...
