Portal site keeps dropping me down

The bookmark I use is the Portal page. Since yesterday it loads up at the bottom of the page (pics) instead of the top. I think this is happening to everyone.

Try clearing your cache.

I cleared all cache, shut down, opened up and still the same thing.

It's also the same on my Internet Exploder.

When I type a long message, it stops showing what I am typing it when it gets below the bottom edge of the message screen. It flashes very quickly but it goes back to the top every time I type something below the bottom of the screen. I scroll down to the bottom and I can view what I have typed, but as soon as I start typing, it does the same thing all over again....

I have IE at work on Windows 7. Pretty sure it happens on my home computer with IE and Vista too, though. I can't recall if I have tried it on FF though.

I've had this same thing happen too but not all the time, ususally if I quote a long post. IE & Windows 7.

I have been on a Mac at work for 5+ years. I went full time to a Mac at home last year. Even before that I had long ago stopped using IE. So I no longer test the site for incompatibilities with IE. I guess I'll have to start testing again.

I looked this problem up on the phpBB website and this is a problem with IE. Here is what they say will solve the problem.... "If you click the button to the right of IE's the address bar, and select "Compatibility view", it will stop."

I can't test this solution, so let me know if it works..... Or just start using Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

I may have a global fix for the IE problem..... Are you guys having problems with IE7 or IE8?


EDIT: I made a global change. Let me know if the IE problem is fixed. You should not have to make the change that I said would fix the problem in the post above this one.

I have had similar problems since I got a new computer with Windows 7 recently. My biggest problem has been editing posts. The biggest headache has been trying to update the "Recruiting Links" page. I have some limited access to a Mac, and do not have the same issues there.

And the scroll bar still kicks up and down when I type so it almost looks like an old typewriter when I add stuff. Oh well, keeps me posts short!

I will see if I can reproduce the problem on my wife's Win7 laptop. In the mean time, get a real browser!

Whatever you did helped. It is just a bit of an annoyance when I get too long-winded. But as GE said, it keeps me from doing so. You guys shouldn't have to read my rambling .

This looks like an IE8 bug with text boxes. It may have been a problem with IE7 as well.

I think if you try the compatibility fix I listed above, the problem may go away since IE will remember that setting for GPL.

Monkey wrench...I have had this problem every now and then and I run Firefox on both computers I use. It is a problem exactly like GE described, but not everytime I run into the situation. I just remedy the issue by not using long quotes in my response, so I just respond rather than including a LeoPohl type post in my response.
