Better start tonight than last night. Pitching a bit steadier and bats have already shown more life.

Geason puts Gophs ahead with solo shot to lead off bottom of second.

Kyle Knudson with an RBI triple, Nick O'Shea drives him in with an RBI single, 4-2 Gophers in the 3rd, 2 outs. The Cal State pitcher is their ace.

There have been two bobbled grounders by the Gophers in this inning, one of which prevented an inning-ending DP. Bases are now loaded with 1 out. FUNDAMENTALS.

CS-F loads the bases with back to back bad hops.

...and the Gophers have a convention on the mound.

2B error very costly...then a seeing eye infield single...it would be nice if our pitcher could bear down and take over for a couple innings. :anger:

These announcers suck.

I think it's volume down time. I can't stomach these guys + dealing with Fullerton hitting when their entire lineup appears to be hitting around .360.

Nice safe call by third base ump on what should have been a K for Jones...  It wasn't even close

A hit by pitch....an HR by Ramiriz.....jeepers, gopher pitchers just not getting it done.....basically losing it for the squad

I know a lot of people hate the announcers, but Ensberg knows what he's talking about. He may get a little too technical and I prefer that over a guy who tries to be funny. Also, he mentioned the California Penal League so big props for that.

If you drill him with a pitch, you let him know the bat flipping isn't appreciated, AND you prevent another home run.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I told a buddy when the Gophers were ahead 4-2 that if we pulled this game out @ CSF who has 2 first round draft picks, that Jesse Crain would become my favorite player on the Twins for the rest of the season. Looks like Jesse Crain has been in the game for the Gophers for the past few innings.

The only reason Jesse Crain should be your favorite Twin is if you're concerned that the Twins are drafting too late in each round and you'd like to see them move up.

Decent Gopher pitching would cut down on the bat flips...I can't stand hot doggers, so now won't be pulling for these guys going forward.

Ah yes, I got sucked in, chewed up and spit out by ANOTHER Minnesota sports team!!

Oh well, I'll give them credit...it's not like they had a season of expectations with a team of 20 draft picks

Keey-rist, they're playing out of their MINDS right now.

EDIT: The pitcher for CS-F played his first game of the season YESTERDAY. That's like reaching into the pocket of a coat you haven't worn in years and pulling out the Hope F'n Diamond. :chainsaw:

Great play by Geason. Nice play on a tough hop for Pettersen.

Definitely gotta tip the cap to John Anderson and the boys regardless of how this one turns out (and I think we're starting to see the writing on the wall). Lots of turnover in the lineup from last year and a rough start to the season and yet they came within one victory of a Super Regional bid. A nice showing for a northern team.

If Anderson can keep guys like Rosin and Kvasnicka from turning pro and find a capable replacement for Knudson, the Gophers should be in pretty good shape for next season, at least in terms of competing in the Big 10 and getting back to the NCAAs.

And with a new ballpark on the horizon, maybe we'll see some NCAA baseball tournament action in Minneapolis in the near future.

Might have been our best chance right there. Still, as mentioned before, a great run this season, regardless of the outcome of this game.

The ending sucked, but they showed up and played in the regional, which is what i want to see. Too many times we have 0-2, BBQ. Fullerton just had more depth and talent.

I'm not going to lie and say I followed the baseball team religiously. I didn't even watch a game until the Big ten tourney. It was hard not to get caught up in that though. That was a fun little run they made in the regional and they gave themselves a chance to take out a very good team on their field. It was disappointing but at least they played two good games and made CS-F sweat it out until Monday night.

Also, I wish CS-F the best of luck in the Supers and should they make it to Omaha.....NOT! Bat flipping douche bags...

Here's to hoping that UCLA kicks the ever-living s**t out of Fullerton this weekend. Never been any kind of fan of UCLA but I'm also not one that hopes the team that takes out my team goes on to win it all so I can say at least we lost to the best. None of that. You beat my favorite team? I want you taken out in the next round.

Considering how young this team was this year, it was great to see them make the run they did especially the second half of the Big Ten season, Big Ten tourney and the Regionals. Hopefully they can build on what they accomplished this season and make a deeper run next season.

I agree with what Ensberg said last night during the broadcast. If Anderson can keep guys like Kvasnicka around, they could be pretty successful in the next couple years.

FYI--

UCLA just kicked the crap out of Cal State in Game 3 of their series to move on the the College WS. My guess is that they've lost a little arrogance tonight.

For the first time in history, the Minnesota women's soccer team will host the NCAA Sweet 16 this Saturday with a 1 p.m. (CST) showdown against Georgetown. It will mark the second-ever appearance in the Sweet 16 by Minnesota, who also made it to the NCAA third round in 2008. The Gophers are 7-0 all-time at home in the NCAA tournament and are 5-0 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
