WCCO is now accepting applications for Shelby's radio slot.

http://www.minnpost.com/braublog/2009/1 ... _successor

Since Cardinal is on KFAN I would encourage the following GPLers to apply (in no particular order)

1. Slap Shot
2. Handyman
3. DHG
4. SkiUMahLaw

Usually I can stand PA in small bursts, but hearing him with Mike Florio this morning made me want to go down to St Louis Park and slap him around. It's ok to be a homer on your show, but don't be your beyond huge egotist self AND an unapologetic homer at the same time. I've never heard Sid or Sonmor even approach the level of what I heard today.

I hope Florio has the seeds to never go back on his show.

I didn't hear the show, but I agree with your views on PA. The only thing I would add is any ego contest between PA and Florio would be a photo finish...

Matt Thomas (saw it on a Tweet) is leaving AM1500 for some station in Houston. I think they should replace him with Mischke. :)

An aside, the dollar amount it would take lure me to the hellhole known as Houston would have to be really really really high.

I'm Facebook friends with Matt. Here is what he posted there.

Kim and I are very happy to say we are coming home to Houston. I will be starting on Newsradio 740 KTRH and 790 KBME starting January 4th. I have some huge job responsibilities but I am looking forward to the challenge. To my Minnesota friends and listeners: I can not thank you enough for your support. We enjoyed everything about our time here except when it was -10 and snowing.

I've never heard Matt Thomas. Going to KTRH from AM1500 is a step up...despite moving to Houston. KTRH is Houston's WCCO (or San Antonio's WOAI).

Barnard not leaving KQ after all.

I was going to predict this but never put it in writing. He is such a cash cow for KQ, any issues he has with them will get taken care of by KQ. They cannot afford to lose him.

Hey, what's with KFAN past 5 p.m.? Do they reduce power output to a couple AA batteries or what? I can't pick up their signal in Chaska for crying out loud, much less outposts farther out, such as Waconia or south of Lakeville. :confused2:

They go from 50000W to 25000W at sundown. But their signal is directional, and you are certainly in the nighttime gray area.

B96 has changed their format to Top 40.

http://www.twincities.com/ci_14133984

We were due for a radio station format change as there hasn't been one in a while. This one does not bother me at all as I never listened to B96 and will not be listening to the new format.

The new guy is a total clown, a dumbed down version of Joe...if that't possible. :D Seriously, I always liked Joe too...maybe because he isn't a phony, though his plaid jacket and striped tie mismatches are the stuff of many a gay man's fashion night sweats.

I'm pretty sure it was Joe Schmit who years ago reported the results of the previous years Champ Car race one night. See, the race had been rain delayed, so ABC broadcast the previous years race during the time-slot. Apparently Joe didn't catch it and reported the results as though the race had taken place.

I laughed at that for a couple of weeks straight (and still do when I think of it.)

Here's the story about Joe Schmit from PPress. Phil Aldridge moving to weekends.

Edit: this article in the Strib says Aldridge will be on weekends until he leaves in July.

A little birdie posted on Facebook (but that little birdie makes a great pizza!) something about a bad occurrence occurring with the FSN family. Without pushing further than decent privacy should permit, anybody have any details?

Edit: Nevermind. Jup posted it here.

Sorry to hear of the loss of one of the many that do such a fantastic job covering our beloved team.

I didn't know that my Facebook page was now a site for news. Twice this week. Anyway, I didn't want to report the details before they were released by those who should be releasing them. RIP Craig. I'll miss the friendly banter down in the bowels of the rink.

Per his Tweet, Joe Anderson will be taking Matt Thomas's old time slot on KSTP AM from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm for at least the next year.

Great news and even more pub (between Mr. Phunn & Rookie) for Highland Central hockey. :)
Change is good.
