I am confused why any gopher fan would hate the pats. The pats are basically the equal to the Yankees to baseball and the Gophers to hockey. You like teams that constantly win and rarely have down years, ala the gophers in hockey.
So you're all over the LA Clippers? 8)

Two HUGE losses by HOME AFC teams...that's a lot of fans who attended the games that went home disappointed.

I hate the Yankees too. I should not put the blame on Keading, it should go to the S. Macree (sp) Nice fumble after the INT

I swear this Bears team has 9 lives. They struggled to beat an average playoff-caliber NFC team today at Soldier Field in the cold. Grossman is just an accident waiting to happen, but Bears win anyway. I can't imagine that if they get by the Saints that they could possibly beat the Pats (the team I think will prevail over the Colts).

The Bears only lost to the Pats 13-17 at New England. I absolutley think the Bears can beat the Pats.

I'm surprised at how many people here won't support the NFC North in the playoffs.

Grossman has not been a liability (less the GB game) for the past several weeks. He's not having his 140 passer rating games, but he's functioning fairly well. Today he was not the problem less the one fumble. His receivers had a couple of drops and Muhammed allowed the interception.

The Colts have struggle on offense most of the playoffs, so I think the Pats are in. I'm torn on the Saints/Bears.

I get that, but I don't understand how people can intentionally go the other way. Refuse to cheer for a team solely because they're in the same conference/division.

Gossman threw into a couple of linemen and got lucky the ball fell harmlessly. When he gets pressured he makes bad decisions; it's not the team so much I dislike, it's the obnoxious Bear fans (and Grossman himself). Best scenario would be a late game collapse by old Rexy to send home the Bear faithful numb, broken, disillusioned and venemously choking up sputum on Monday morning, calling for the head of Lovie Smith for placing confidence in Grossman in the first place...only then will they know the futility of Vikings' fans.

Exactly. I guess the way most people I know look at it, it is a matter of how can anybody cheer for a team that they spend the whole season loathing? :puke:

Schottenheimer, tormented in the playoffs like few coaches in history, dropped to 5-13 in the postseason

Look at Brady's 3 picks, and Manning's game, and Hasselly-poo. Grossy played a solid game. If you take "nearly" and "almost" Favre would have no career.

I love the sour grapes as we prepare to finish off the Faux contending 'Aints.

On a side note, I hear there's a TE coach opening in Denver.

There is some media excitement for a Bears / Colts Superbowl as no black coach has made it to the Superbowl and Lovie Smith is a up and comer under Dungy. A battle between the Emporer and Dark Lord of epic proportion...

34 31 NE with 3:49 to go.

2:17 to go and Indy has the ball. Can Manning / Dungy get it done? Manning has a hurt thumb and every time he throws the ball is wabbling like a duck.

2:00 minute warning. Colts on the move!

1:53 to play and the Colts have the ball on the 11 yard line of NE.

1:02 to go. TO NE. 3rd and 2 on the three yard line.

TD Colts! 38 -34 Colts.

NE moving with :24 to go. Ball is on the Colts 45.

Intercepted! Marlon Jackson. Colts are going to the Super Bowl! Dungy and Manning get the Bears!!!!!

Largest comback ever in a conference champioinship game. Colts trailed 21 - 3.

VERY happy for Tony Dungy. I can't imagine a better way for him to finally get to the Super Bowl than by defeating his arch-nemesis AND coming from behind four different times to do so.

Simply put, a terrific game. Let's hope XLI comes close.

Marvin Jackson. Colts are going to the Super Bowl! Dungy and Manning get the Bears!!!!!

Largest comback ever in a conference champioinship game. Colts trailed 21 - 3.

Marlon Jackson not only made a great play to intercept the pass but made an equally great play to just drop to the ground to avoid the risk of a fumble. A lot of second year guys may have wanted to try to take it to the house for another score.

I think if you watch replays, you'll see a lot of Colts defenders giving him the double stop sign with their hands. A wide angle side line shot showed some of his own guys coming to him and appeard to be signaling him to go down.

Though I completely agree. Best decision made.

Isn't Marlon Jackson the younger brother of former U runningback, Terry Jackson?

What a hire for the Raiders!

Release on Kiffin. We'll see how he does as a head coach. Hard to compare him since he doesn't have to recruit, but if he can control those Raiders, hats off to thee.

I still see him getting back to college some day.

The NFL sure is going young with their new coaches. Tomlin is 34 and Kiffin is 31.

No one can control the Raiders. Much like Bobby Petrino, he is making a HUGE mistake.

Man, Kiffin looked like he was in over his head at the press conference. I hope it works out for him. Davis has proven to be a tough man to work for!

Grimm to AZ as assistant Head Coach with Whisenhunt. So the Steelers in house candidates to replace Cowher both end up in AZ.

Reports are out that McNabb is unhappy with the Eagles.

Titans will not allow Dallas to talk to Fisher.

Lane Kiffin

Postby Chris83 » Wed 1/24/07 9:05 am

I wish him luck. Hope he's very receptive to having little say in the decisions that are made, because Al Davis takes care of all that.

The Raiders used to really mean something; now they're just a joke.

Not very flattering commentary coming out on Kiffin all of a sudden. Both locally here and in Oakland. Maybe Maturi knows more than we thought.

I still would not have minded him as our coach. I think he is in a little over his head as a NFL coach though as his strongest skill mentioned was his ability to recruit. Not much recruiting done in the NFL.

Two of my least favorite words in the NFL offseason (Yes...I know the Super Bowl hasn't happened yet) are "Mock Draft." "Mel Kiper" would be a close second. Put them together in the same sentence and I lose my lunch.

Anyway, here is an SI Mock Draft for the first 10 picks.

I've long thought he would be in our wheelhouse if Calvin Johnson is off the board. I'm not sure what his actual height is, but I've seen Ted Ginn Jr. frequently listed at 5'10" as opposed to 6'0" here. In either case, we haven't had the best of luck with speedy, undersized receivers. Hopefully this one can catch if it turns out to be the pick......

I don't know how many times I've heard about Ditka doing this sort of thing. Same goes for (packer) Jerry Kramer. It's great to see stories of guys doing things like this with all the turds in the NFL these days.

Ditka is really good about that stuff. I went to a fundraiser at his resturant in Chi a few years ago with the benefits going to retired players. He tears up talking about them, and he doesn't tear up easily.

Pro Bowl:
AFC 31-28 over the NFC. I saw on ESPN that the AFC was up 28-14 with around 3 minuets left. NFC ties it up, only to have Nate "pigeon" Keading kick a fieldgoal as time expired to win the game.

BTW, did I hear it right. Does each player gets $40,000 for winning the Pro Bowl or do they split the $40,000?

Quien es mas macho: Childress o Marty?

I'm not sure I'd take Marty right now...I'm willing to give Childress another season or two at best to prove himself.
