Maturi was on Reusse's morning show today. It didn't sound like he was in favor of dumping him. One of this lines went something like, "I don't feel it's in our best interest or his best interest just to give him the boot and move on."

Or something like that.

he also basically said that the U most likely has a bit more info than the public on these topics so patience is needed

Edit: Here's a link to the show. November 12th, Hour 3

http://www.am1500.com/ondemand/reusse

Edit 2: Listen to the whole thing, the first part of that hour is pretty interesting when they have the shark expert on.

Matt Thomas (AM1500) just Tweeted FOX9 is reporting he is toast.
Hope so, he's a knucklehead and Tubby doesn't need the crap White carries with him.

Queue Handy.

I largely sat out the pile-it-on criticisms because who cares about Gophs bball here, but Handy was right on all the way (as opposed to his over-the-top criticisms in other threads  ). Lots more to every accusation than was made known. But mostly, if someone gets caught stealing, it was not their first time stealing. That and his crew (which I've learned more about since I posted here earlier) helped him get the eff out of the U before sullying the school's history with a game played.

Good riddance.

Edit: Handy beat me to it. Now let's calmly remove any credit I gave Handy.

I love Gopher Basketball...I grew up on that and Gopher Football so I take the team very seriously. They will be better off without this guy.

I wish I had been wrong and Royce had worked out...he dug his own grave. Three cheers for Tubby for this it was the right move and the best move for the program!

Who gives a :censored: about the distractions? Minnesota beat Tennessee Tech 87-50 last night. It sounds like a few of the younger guys had very good games. We were a tournament team last year, we've kept almost all of our scoring, and our young players should improve this year.

I'd like to say I saw it, but I didn't feel like giving the BTN $3 more of my money.

Here's the latest I guess -- http://www.twincities.com/ci_13786183

University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Tubby Smith said today that he hasn't changed the status of freshman forward Royce White, who is still suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

White, a former Mr. Basketball at Hopkins High School last season, wasn't on the bench for Friday night's 87-50 season opening win against Tennessee Tech at Williams Arena. Smith said after the game that he wouldn't comment until everything had been "finalized" with White. Fox 9 reported that Smith was going to announce today that White was being dismissed from school. But Smith said nothing more would be determined until after White's recent issue was resolved.

Still think he's done.

Edit: Also, Myron tweeted that he wasn't at practice this morning.

Another workman-like 40 point win for Orlando's boys. There are still reasons for concern (11 1st half turnovers, Only out-rebounded the Stephen F. Austin Fighting Whatevers by 8), but the defense is apparently ready to go.

The headline is misleading. It's not like he skipped out leaving his lawyer in a lurch. His lawyer probably advised him not to go so the media wouldn't be able to yell questions at him.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Monty's post isn't too far off (despite him joking about it). Tubby probably demands him in all of his classes and keeping up his grades while this is sorted out.

David Grim was my favorite player when I was a little boy! I think it was because he was one of the only players I could remember the name of when I was that young. Got to meet him randomly years later when we were in El Paso for the Sun Bowl vs Oregon(the first time) in the hotel elevator. Totally random but a great guy!

I always thought Ariel McDonald was a cool name and Ernest Nzigamazabo! (I doubt I was even close on that one!) Those Clem teams of the early to mid 1990's were some of my faves!

Hell I remember getting pumped when they won the NIT with "Fab Five" reject Voshon Lenord in 1993! (beating Georgetown and Allen Iverson!) Ironically that was the last year that wasn't erased by the Fraud Scandal :(

Man those teams were fun to watch...

Beating Butler would be huge cause we'd then be virtually guaranteed to play two more quality opponents. The 76 Classic is our only chance for a marquee win out of conference...

I am liking our chances against Bulter and I am really not worried about UCLA, they are not that great this year, but it is UCLA. This would be a big win for the team and help when it comes toward the end of the year.

I had a dream once where the Gophers beat UCLA in the NCAA Tournament...I believe Steve Lavin cried afterwards ;)

I know it must be a dream because they beat Clemson in that same tourny...NO CHANCE! :P

The Classic is a pretty good tourny...kudos to the organizers for putting it together!

It just so happens that they are slated to play in the Puerto Rico Tip-off next year. This tourney is also over Thanksgiving weekend next year like the 76 Classic. Here is the field:
Davidson
Hofstra
Minnesota
Nebraska
North Carolina
Vanderbilt
West Virginia
Western Kentucky

Pretty nice.

No decent opponent in the ACC challenge?

Got Miami, they are a decent opponent.

Could be, but a lot of people expect them to be a basement team in the ACC, much like Virginia was last year.

He seemed to have found a temper problem on the way out to Anaheim, though.

30 seconds, Handy? No. That would take away some TV time for the stars of this Referee contest.

It isnt the temper I mind, the double dribbles and palming is what I find annoying.

My lord will someone tell the refs no one is there to watch them...this is getting ridiculous! If they keep this up the Gophs will run out of players to play.

No. These refs are awful. At least it seems to be going both ways though...
