I would guess so too unless the injury is really serious - dangerous serious. Or making it impossible to throw properly. None of us really know what the doctors told him - privately.

Good. The Jets suck. I hope it stays that way. They only get attention now because their coach can't shut his mouth and they're a "New York" team.

A must read if you have even the slightest interest in what the future may hold for Peyton Manning. Some pretty incredible reporting here.

As I said at the beginning of the year, if Peyton didn't play Week 1 of the 2011-12 season, he ain't playing for good.

Too many ifs.

Based off that report I'd be really surprised if he plays again, too.

Wow, the NFL is just now finding this out? Jeezus, all you had to do was watch the games. There's tough and hard hitting and then there's cheap, dirty f**kers like New Orleans. Payton is as miserable a piece of s**t as Williams. Time to strip some #1 draft picks and THEN worry about fines and suspensions.

Nothing in that article about why the refs ignored late hit after late hit after late hit on Favre. The refs had every chance to retake control of that game and appeared to willingly ignore that responsibility.

It will be interesting to see how hard the NFL comes down on them.

Wrist slap. Agree with above - refs could manage this easily. That and suspensions from league for what they deem as intentionally dangerous play. Won't happen.

I'm not so sure. Goodell, moreso than previous commissioners, likes to establish precedents from and make examples out of offenders under his tenure. I could see some serious banhammering...

This is really blowing up with strong opinions on both sides, players arguing both sides vehemently on ESPN. As far as I'm concerned, this is a players issue and what the fans think doesn't mean s**t. Not cool to have coaches paying players for injuring players though, and not surprised the Saints are at the center of it. Team and their fans have always seemed cheesy.

All these NFL analysts on ESPN and stuff that are saying they want to find the guy who ratted this out and put a whuppin on him make me sick.
The athletes right now love the extra pay day, especially the ones who were being paid to cheap shot, and don't care about what happens to the other guys. Ask players that played 10-20 years ago that can barely get up the stairs what they think about this bounty system. I bet they are pretty damn embarrassed by it.
The hypocrisy of the NFLPA is just bewildering. They didn't want an 18 game regular season because it isn't safe. But they are totally OK with a bounty system and are more interested in finding the guy who "leaked" it? The guy who did the right thing is going to be black-balled by his fellow players while these thug morons continue to get paid.

There was nothing to prevent them from working out a new contract--the precedent is there.

He didn't want to do that because then he would be expected to teach Luck and prepare him to take over for him in a few years. Manning still thinks he is capable of playing at a high level for a few years and doesn't want to waste it teaching another QB. Also, the talent around Manning proved to be lacking this year. He found and out and took it.

I know. My point was the Colts made a business decision about Manning's career just like Peyton Manning did with his career. I find it...shortsighted that Colts fans think management is somehow the villainous one in all of this. Each side had to do what was in their best interest. It seemed inevitable to me that it would result in Manning either going somewhere else to play or simply retiring.

It occurred to me today that I wonder how much different this situation would have been handled by the Colts if they had the third overall pick instead of the first.

Remind the Vikings that winning games at the end of the season matter.

Rams trade 2nd overall pick to Wash. They swap picks, plus 2 future 1's and a 2.

One has to give Snyder credit--when it became clear that the Skins weren't going to get Manning he did what he had to in order to get RG3.

Terrific move by the Rams. Move down just 4 spots, get a second rounder this year and Washington's #1 for 2013 and 2014.

Ridiculously good for the Rams, but I don't understand the Redskins' thought process... I said before that the Colts better be right about Luck, but Washington better be more right about Griffin.

Their thought process is they think RG3 can be a Top 3 QB in football for the next 10 years and they will sell a ton of jerseys. If they're right it's a good move, if not it hamstrings their org for the better part of the next decade.

Given how bad the Skins free agency moves have been, I'd argue they'll continue to be irrelevant for the next 5 years unless he turns out to be the next Peyton Manning

Titans looking at signing former Viking Steve Hutchinson. Some are saying this is an attempt to get Manning to Nashville because he and Hutch are good friends. I think it is a terrible idea since Hutch is well past his prime, which means opposing DL will have multiple opportunities to break Manning's neck.

Wonder how much the bounty is for a broken Manning neck? I'll have to ask to see the Saints' price sheet again.

Wonder how much the bounty is for a broken Manning neck? I'll have to ask to see the Saints' price sheet again.

Bears get Brandon Marshall from Miami for 2 3rd round picks. I was hoping they would sign a WR so we could make a move for Jackson.

Colston staying put in NOLA with a 5 year deal.

And just a day later, we find out he punched a chick in the face outside a nightclub. Awesome.

He's going to tutor Adam Weber into becoming the next Aaron Rodgers.

I'd be pretty shocked if Tebow goes anywhere but Jacksonville. It seems to be the perfect fit. He was born and raised in Florida, played at UF, would sell out the stadium week 1 (which they haven't done since probably 2003), and would sell an insane amount of jerseys.

Yep. It would seem likely he'd land there or Miami. Both in FL and both with murky QB situations.

Manning said that he wanted to stay in the AFC.

Do you think Denver will get a first round pick for Tebow?

I don't know if they'll get that. I mean, they don't really have any leverage. I bet half the league (maybe even more) wouldn't touch Tebow with a 10 foot pole.

Like the point Beauner made though, JAX may value the buzz/fanfare it would certainly bring to their organization.

He's 36? So the deal runs out when he's 41... That would be very surprising, to me.

If Miami AND Denver both get a Tebow-ner for trading for him they could end up getting a 1st rounder. I'd look more for a 2nd rounder and a 5th or something like that. He won games last year in Denver which will make his value go higher, but the team that trades for him is going to have to adjust their whole offense.

Denver has acknowledged that they probably only get a 5th round pick for Tebow. They said if no one trades for him, they will release him. I don't know why anyone would offer up picks if they knew that

That was according to Adam Schefter

Earlier today one of the guys on ESPN reported they could probably get a 2nd rounder from a desperate team. Obviously Denver coming out and saying "We're going to release him if we can't trade him" changes that.

Wouldn't. At least half of the league would not even entertain the idea of trading for Tebow.

Sweet.... since this all started to come to light because of the Farve mauling in the NFC Championship, we get the Colts in the Super Bowl now , right?....or is this another f*** you to the Minnesota sports fan?

Let's change the MLB coinflip rule the year after the Twins got screwed.....Let's change the NFL overtime rule the year after the Vikes got screwed......Let's just say "sorry " to Vikes fans that after losing to a team that was proven to be using a illegal bounty system which explains the high rate of illegal hits on our QB in that game (and if you recall one of those hits directly resulted in a INT on said play).....we'll suspend some coaches and a GM. oh, and take a couple of draft picks and some cash. Everyone's happy, right?

They brokes the rules -they cheated - they should vacate. Just like when , once again, MN sports fans got screwed because our only NCAA hoops FF run ever got vacated.....mostly because we can't even cheat correctly.

Love it...it was SO OBVIOUS they targeted FARVE in the NFC title game. That (and 12 men in the huddle) cost Vikes a SB berth. Glad to see...what goes around..comes around. :good2:

I like an anti-Minnesota conspiracy as much as the next guy. But bounties have been going on since before face masks. Now somebody was actually dumb enough to talk about it and Goodell had to act.

Totally correct Sun - the NFL did what they had to do, and probably the only thing they could do. I mean, it's not like they could replay the game (or could they? ).....but my point is once again this jilted fan base takes another shot in the nuts. I hate my teams losing, but I know losing is part of being a fan. But this sick reoccurring theme of heartbreaking loses followed up by leagues changing rules that effected said loses, or teams being caught cheating after said loses just won't go away....
