Randy Moss

Postby gopher6 » Tue 11/14/06 12:24 pm

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Do people work best when they're happy, or should professionalism be motivation enough? Oakland Raiders team captain Randy Moss and coach Art Shell seem to have different viewpoints.

Moss, asked Monday about dropping more passes than usual this season, said perhaps his lack of happiness has affected his play.

"Maybe because I'm unhappy, and I'm not too much excited about what's going on, so my concentration and focus level tends to go down when I'm in a bad mood," Moss said. "So all I can say is if you put me in a good situation and make me happy, man, you get good results."

We can take him back any time :drunk:

Oh Randy. The man did make it clear that he plays when he wants too, so the Raiders should have seen this coming.

3 games on Thanksgiving?

Postby Dances With Gophers » Tue 11/14/06 5:13 pm

Well, I must've been living under a rock for the past 6 months... Did everyone else know about the 3rd NFL game (Denver @ KC) on Thanksgiving night? 3 games might be too much for me after eating turkey for lunch.

IIRC, you'll only get the third game if you have NFL Network. I think they have a few late season games.

MVP candidate McNabb out for season.

Favre injuries nerve in right arm and will be questionable for next week. His streak will be in jeopardy. Aaron Rogers got hurt as well and might be unavailable as well.

i don't know about you guys, but i'm about to chop off my ears if i have to listen to the john cougar mellancamp song "this is our country" during the chevy commercials again. they play it about 30 times per football game it seems.

that and NBC has this godawful opening music bit that makes the monday night football theme sound like a :censored: masterpiece.

i think this is why god invented the mute button (that and chris berman...)

:puke:
stop the bad music!!!

I have it on mute all the time. I don't need all the analyzing and breakdown of stats.

Did anyone see the Chargers/Raiders and that fumble/forward lateral/whathaveyou play? I've never seen anything like it. I'm sure glad the best ref in football, Mike Carey, was working the game. He explains the situation so well. Love it.

The play was a catch by Charger WR Vincent Jackson. He made a diving catch, got up and tossed the ball forward, but was never touched. They ruled it a fumble first, but he tossed it forward so its a forward lateral, so the Chargers retained the ball.

How about the NFC playoff race. Talk about mediocrity! Philly creeping back. Carolina almost dead. Atlanta hanging on. Thoughts?

Anybody notice what V. Young is doing in Tennesse? Three remarkable comebacks, including a 39 yard romp in OT today against Houston.

Is Indy going in the tank again?

IMO, LT is the MVP!

The NFC is a joke. Chicago has the DEF, no off. Dallas and New Orleans are good, but not great.

Started Young today in fantasy over Bulger...I saw the 39-yard run in OT. Before that play I was crying.

Indy just allowed 375 rushing yards and four touchdowns, including 131 on nine carries to Old-Man Taylor. Yes. They are just really banged up right now, and need to get healthy fast.

LT should get every first-place vote. Marty is coach of the year. GM is exec of the year for giving Rivers a chance.

IIRC, Jax had well over 200 yards rushing the last time they faced the Colts earlier this year. The Colts may be banged up, but their run D wasn't good to begin with.

Colt's run D is just not good. They don't tackle very well. I saw some of the highlights (or lowlights for Colts fans) and they looked like the Gophers defense of years past. Just got brutalized, tried to tackle guys high with arm tackles and everything. I'm not complaining because Maurice Jones-Drew got me 26.5 points!

I was really wondering what made everybody decide that THIS was the Colts year after they lost Edge and Corey Simon? :confused2: Oh well.

NFL: Dolphins did no wrong vs. PatriotsBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

Without convening a congressional hearing or hiring an independent counsel to investigate the incident, the NFL has ruled that the Miami Dolphins violated no league rules in the Tapegate affair associated with the team's 21-0 victory over the New England Patriots last Sunday.

Quick Hits

Teams are always trying to steal signs and signals off other teams. That's just football.
:censored: :drunk:

The incident spawned considerable attention on Tuesday after some Dolphins players suggested to the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post that the team "purchased" tapes of the New England offense that provided audio of quarterback Tom Brady making audible and line-blocking calls.

I'm not defender of Owens by any means, but Owens should not be suspended for this. It is dispicable what he did, but no other player who has done it has been suspended. I do think the NFL should make a point prior to next season that any player who does it gets an automatic suspension.

Disgruntled Lions fans planning stadium walkoutAssociated Press

Some fans in Detroit are planning to protest the dismal state of the William Clay Ford-owned and Matt Millen-led Detroit Lions in their home finale for the second straight year.

Last season, about 500 people marched, chanting "Fire Mil-len!, before the Lions hosted the Cincinnati Bengals, and many wore orange during the game.

On Sunday against Chicago, another protest has been initiated by disgruntled fans. With 8:57 left in the second quarter, those interested in showing their displeasure with Ford and Millen are asked to walk out of their seats and to later walk out of the stadium.

My gosh just imagine Chili as the head coach and Denny as the OC. The media would be drooling at the thought of that.

Although I have to say I wouldn't mind it. If Denny had any input the offense might be somewhat exciting...at the very least we'd have pass plays that stretched beyond the first down marker and some sweet sound bites again!

I was thinking that was the same one? If they're different, they're both great. His "diddly poo" comment was followed by, "our defense is a farce". Classic stuff.

He was the Saints coach for the diddly poo one, and the Colts coach for the playoffs one. What a great guy for meltdowns!

Gotcha, thanks. It's really too bad he's no longer in coaching. His post-game comments were often better than the game itself.

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino has accepted a five-year, $24 million offer from the Atlanta Falcons to become their new coach.

That's a quick hire. Explains why Tomline was interviewed this past week with the mandate on interviewing.

SD shot themselves in the foot way too many times in that game. Dissapointing outcome, I hate the Pats. :chainsaw:

I am confused why any gopher fan would hate the pats. The pats are basically the equal to the Yankees to baseball and the Gophers to hockey. You like teams that constantly win and rarely have down years, ala the gophers in hockey.

I can't remember for sure, but I know it's bad. Even worse, he hasn't won a playoff game since something like 1993.
