8:35 -- Tony Bennett reports that Minnesota and Portland are swapping draft picks -- Roy to Portland, Foye to Minnesota. That's it? That's the trade? None of the ESPN guys seem remotely fazed. I knew Kevin McHale couldn't just pick the best guy in the draft without somehow screwing it up. I would have bet my Ndudi Ebi rookie cards on it.

With the move, the Wolves really have no money left, having used the 5 million dollar mid-level exemption on James.

That would be an interesting trade. Tough to imagine how the Wolves (or any other NBA team) could handle Garnett AND Iverson's contracts. Would the rest of the team be volunteers?![]()

It would certainly be interesting to see how they'd pull it off with bums like Jaric and Hudson eating up way too much cap space on the current roster.

Don't forget Blount...we got robbed in that trade. McHale needs to go away...

A lot of odd calls both ways, and Bibby got kicked out of the game with 3 minutes left and the Kings only trailing by 6. Absolutely one of the dumbest things I've ever seen a veteran player like Bibby do when the game's outcome was still up in the air. If I was the Kings coach I might have got myself thrown out at that point just so I could go back in the locker room and scream at Bibby.

One could make an argument that if KG left the attendance would be little to nothing, but the couple games I went to last year(including the Heat and Cavs) no one was there, no where near a sellout. KG deserves better.I feel bad for the guy!

Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson --the possibility of that combination lifted Garnett's spirits just minutes after a big victory over Utah.
"Bring it on, I love 'The Answer," Garnett said Friday night. "We welcome A.I. with open arms. Where's Kevin McHale?"
Garnett had a season-high 31 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves over the league-leading Jazz 110-103.
McHale, vice president of basketball operations, would not comment on rumors that Iverson would end up in Minnesota. But his star player went so far as to look into a local television camera and make a plea to Iverson.
"Come on, boy," Garnett said. "I can't think of anyone who wouldn't want to play with him."

I saw this. I am not believing it, especially with the empty seats at Target Center. We have to match salaries!

As I said, I would welcome Iverson. I am weary about giving up on Foye, but to get some you got to give some I guess.

The source indicated the Minnesota Timberwolves were not seriously in the running, and the attention being paid to Denver and Boston was being overblown.
....
Amid speculation that [Ricky] Davis, or Mike James, and rookie Randy Foye might be the centerpieces of a deal that would send Iverson to Minnesota, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor on Friday night told the St. Paul Pioneer-Press: "There's no trade. It isn't that I don't like him, just money-wise it wouldn't work out."
And although Taylor backed off those comments somewhat on Saturday, ESPN.com's source, who because of his closeness to Iverson was being kept abreast of all developments, indicated the 76ers weren't enamored of either Davis or the additional pieces they'd have to take back from Minnesota to make the salaries match.
Hobey Baker wrote:Iverson supposedly nixed trade to the Bobcats.
For those worried about giving up Foye and the advancing ages of KG and Iverson's, the Wolves made their run to the Western Conference finals with 33 yr old Spreewell and 34 yr old Cassel. We have a window for this to be big but the bigger question is what would the Wolves look like after the deal and could they find the missing pieces to put them over the top.

Sure they could - they are carrying plenty of crappy contracts right now that could equal out AI's #. The question is whether Philly really benefits from what the Wolves have to offer - it doesn't sound like they are all that interested. The Wolves are said to be looking at a package of Davis, Foye, Jaric and maybe Griffin.
