Jordan responded by saying "this isnt' one of the smarter things for Kobe to have said. We had 11 HOF' ers. Most of us were in the prime of our careers. I was 29, Pippen 26, Barkley 29 and Ewing 29. They may have been more athletic but we were definetly smarter. If they have 11 HOF we can compare down the road but I guess we will never know.. Remember, they learned from us, not the other way around.".

The other thing Kobe ought to think about is that they haven't won the gold medal yet either and they aren't a slam dunk (sorry for the pun) to win it. They should and probably will, but let's not start the crazy comparisons before a meaningful game is even played.

That might be the dumbest article I've ever seen from the Star Tribune, and that's saying something.

"How did we get a roster that resembles the 1955 Lakers?" asked Tyrone Terrell, chairman of St. Paul's African American leadership council. "I think everything is a strategy. Nothing happens by happenstance."
That strategy, Terrell and others in the black community believe, is to sell tickets to the Wolves' fan base, which is overwhelmingly white.

Stupidity this amazing is quite a sight to behold. If this man is a leader in the black community, it's no wonder why poverty and violence are rampant.

I'll PM because I think this is the wrong thread and pushes the boundaries of Jup's desires for no politics.

Don't bother. I have better things to do with my time than continue this discussion. Poverty and violence as political issues? That assumes one party is for violence and poverty and one is against.

I would go see them if they were purple with pink polka dots even if they were losing...just sayin'.

Outscored Brooklyn 32-10 in the fourth quarter.

Yes.
Not surprised by the move. The guy was clearly not endearing himself to the best player on that team and now is 1-4 with a roster that has 4 all-stars in the starting lineup.

No question that Phil Jackson is a great coach; given that, it WOULD be interesting to see him with something other than All-Star and Hall of Fame laden rosters.

Phil isn't no dummy either...he would never coach that type of team.

Another example of pro sports leagues needing to make sure everyone realizes you don't work for a franchise, you work for the league. And, it's not "Sports", it's "Sports Entertainment". Do what maximizes your chances of winning, do what's best for your team in the long run...until the league tells you it's not in THEIR best interests. "Just make money baby".

The best part about this story is that the Spurs, without Duncan, Parker, Ginobli and Green only lost by 5 @ Miami and Ray Allen needed to hit a go-ahead 3 with 20 seconds left. It's not like the game was a blowout. Stern is just pissed because it was a nationally televised game.
"The result here is dictated by the totality of the facts in this case. The Spurs decided to make four of their top players unavailable for an early-season game that was the team's only regular-season visit to Miami. The team also did this without informing the Heat, the media, or the league office in a timely way. Under these circumstances, I have concluded that the Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans."

I don't think this Love-Kahn-Taylor triangle is any major breaking news. Love said at the time of the contract that he was unhappy with the offer he got (wanted the 5 year max deal, Kahn and Taylor said that he hasn't proven he's worth it), he's also been unhappy with the direction of the team and the constant turnover. To me that gripe is an example of wanting to have his cake and eat it too. He hated that the team was sucky (understandable), Kahn and Taylor overhaul the roster and now he's mad that the roster has a bunch of different guys that are playing significantly better? Sorry we got rid of Beasley, Darko, and Randolph!
