The second string QB destroyed Stillwater last night.

Eden Prairie beat Minnetonka 6-3 in the Sect 6 final. Don't know if it would have mattered if Tonka had their starting QB or not but it's hard to see considering I think he played with EP blew them out the 1st time around.

There was a great game between St. Thomas and South St. Paul tonight. SSP was down 14, scored a TD with 3 minutes remaining, missed the PAT, recovered the onside kick, scored at TD, and made the 2 point conversion to tie. St. Thomas then had a FG blocked at the end of regulation. In OT, St. Thomas scored on 3 plays and was up 31-24. SSP scored on their first play and went for 2 and got it to win the game 32-31.

I was watching UND/Gophers instead of going to the game so I can't say what happened. I will say that I'm concerned that EP just doesn't have the offense they need to compete for the title this year. Scoring 0 points against Wayzata and only scoring 6 on Minnetonka last night.

I hope I'm wrong.

EP did not have any problem scoring on Edina in the playoffs. :biggrin2:

My alma mater (Prior Lake) finally made it to state, for the first time ever

I'm thinking a few of us will go down to the Dome, seeing as it's only like a 5 minute drive for us. Obviously we'll be able to get tickets (I'm assuming they sell them at the door?), but do people scalp tickets for this? And if so, could we show up right at kickoff to get cheaper tickets? I mean, I can't imagine face would be any more than 10 or 15 bucks, but if we could get in for 5 bucks, why not?

No scalping. It's general admission. I think it's $11 or so and yeah they sell them at the box office at the dome.

Agreed.

My nephew plays for Prior Lake so the wife and I decided to watch him play against Totino Grace Friday night.

For whatever reason, they decided to open up ony one of the ticket booths to purchase tickets. Plus, they only staffed the booth with 4 people (I saw at least two open stations). You can only imagine the mass of people waiting in line to buy tickets. I stood in line almost 30 minutes to purchase my tickets, and the line was longer once I got my tickets. The game started in 10 minutes and I'm guessing many people missed the kick off.

Then they forced everyone to sit in one side of the dome (Viking's side). Their allocated seating wasn't enough to accommodate everyone so they finally opened up a couple of sections in the corner of the end zone. I felt sorry for the Totino Grace players (sitting on the visiter's side) as there was no fans behind them to cheer them on.

I'm not sure who was in charge of operations, MSHL or the dome, but it seemed like it was done on the cheap.

Eden Prairie is absolutely embarrassing Anthony LaPanta's Totino Grace squad right now. It is 35-0 with 2:30 left in the 2nd quarter and just recovered a fumble on Totino's 31.

EP can SUCK IT....Class 5A has become a joke. Really, you have either a private like CDH or the Super Public year after year. I will always pull for the other team..

Oh geez, Wayzata falls for trick play to seal their fate....

On a side note, 5A seems down this year..this is not EP's or Wayzata's best team by a long shot.

Also evidenced by the fact that Totino Grace made it to the final 4 by beating Prior Lake, who had to beat an Eastview squad that SUCKED this year (3-5 record before sections).

It didn't help that two of the better teams from the South Metro played each other in the 2nd round of sections (Lakeville North and Lakeville South). Lakeville South's three losses this season: Lakeville North (2x including sections) and Prior Lake (5-2 in SSC). Those two teams were pretty easily the best in their section, but since they didn't win their conference they got seeded 5th in the section, destroyed Rochester Mayo and had to play North again.

It'll be interesting to see how the 6th class changes things for next year.

Gotta love the NCAA. Division I football schools are not allowed to host high school all-star football games so the Minnesota high school football all-star game has been moved from TCF Bank Stadium to St. Cloud State. The rule doesn't apply to Division II or III schools.

Here's the bylaw:

13.11.1.10 Non-scholastic Practice or Competition -- Football. An institution [including any institutional department (e.g., athletics, recreational/intramural)] shall not host, sponsor or conduct a non-scholastic football practice or competition (e.g., seven-on-seven events) in which football prospective student-athletes participate on its campus or at an off-campus facility regularly used by the institution for practice and/or competition by any of the institution's sport programs.

So, who do you suppose brought this to the NCAA's attention? Someone obviously cried foul, saying it was a recruiting edge. Maybe a Michigan State complaining that Michigan was getting an advantage by having all these high school kids playing a game at the Big House?

Fun times in which we live.

Not many. But with Grant gone they will be free to recruit some of the talent he was stealing.
