It ended in a cliffhanger. The Arizona law enforcement folks didn't have a "lawful contact" with them, so it ended up going to a Supreme Court trial.

If you're going for TV that isn't empty calories, "America: The Story of Us" is improving as time goes on. Tonight's episode has been pretty darned good. Bonus points for highlighting the role of the best vehicle in the world (Jeep) in our WWII effort.

And somehow Breaking Bad has made chasing a fly, as in the insect, entertaining for the last half hour. I'm not even joking.

Thought if it instantaneously.

Great ep so far, really gets this character relationship going on another level between Walt and Jesse.

You nailed this on the head. I hated this episode up until the last 20 minutes. It really came together amazingly well.

Well, a show isn't noticed for great writing because chasing a fly is a main storyline.

There had to be a reason, and the approaches to the fly were the base to expand on the characters' relationship.

Wow, that was kinda deep. Sorry about that.

The episode of Breaking Bad was pretty interesting. I almost thought Walt was gonna blurt out something about how Jane died and cause some real problems (kinda like when he mentioned the 2nd phone). Glad he didn't. I'm guessing next week's episode will advance the plot a bit further.

While there have been some "wow" or "holy crap" endings to episodes, this past newest episode almost literally had me jumping off the couch yelling "WHAT THE :censored: ?!"

And it wasn't even the season ender.

Did they show any scenes of the next breaking bad? Or do they normally not do that at the end of the season?

They always show 'scenes from the next episode' when there is an episode on the following week. If it follows the same pattern, it'll start up next spring again. I'm certain they'll be filming this over the summer/fall as usual. I watched 'George Lopez Live' last week with Bryan Cranston on it (he actually had hair), but they didn't talk about next season.

I thought it was a fantastic way to end the season last night - although I was a bit frustrated because the Comcast guide said it would be a 1:47 finale and it wasn't even a full hour.

Chasing Mummies. He's very knowledgeable on egypt but this show exposes him for who he really is. I had no idea. Lost a LOT of respect for him.

He is. I've always found it interested that since he's really an employee of the Government (I would assume at least) that he wouldn't be doing all this TV stuff for western stations. Just goes to show he can whore himself out just like any American just as easily

Not a TV show, but a live webcast going on right now. Leo Laporte (formerly of TechTV) is doing a live webcast from a Ford assembly plant right now. The broadcast is very raw and they do have some technical issues... But I really like that it IS raw and low tech.

It was a decent episode. The only saving grace for the show is that Ronnie is single and is all over "grenades" and "landmines" that the Situation wouldn't even touch. The show will be on 100 times from now until next week so you'll have plenty of opportunities to see it.

I actually caught a couple episodes of Chasing Mummies this weekend and biggest a-hole may be an understatement. It's worse than I thought it could be.

Of course, I might be a little irked if some adult girl relieved herself underneath one of my pyramids, but it was still totally over the top in that case and about every 2-3 minutes outside of that portion of the one show.

Maybe a little off topic but anyone else notice Comcast added a boatload of HD channels to its lineup? Looks like they are all in the 800-900 range and includes many duplicates of HD channels in the 190-230 range - for example, TNT is channel 204 but they have a duplicate TNT HD channel in the 800s. I was gone for two weeks and don't remember seeing an announcement regarding this before I left so it was a very pleasant surprise.

The only reason I noticed was the HD channels I had in my favorites list (like ESPN HD channel 202) the new channel number had been added to my favorites for the HD channels in the 800 range. I think I only have a couple of channels left in my favorites that are not HD.

Did they do the digital conversion in your area? That would be the only thing I could think of that would result in all the new channels. I'll have to check at home but I don't think ours happens for a couple weeks.

Comcast has been slightly re-branded, as 'Xfinity'. Part of this 're-branding' is launching their new network/service/offerings which include about 140 HD stations. The Mpls/St. Paul area is a part of their 2nd wave (I believe) of making this available to their users. I live in Blaine and noticed this sometime about a week ago. Guys I work with that live in Roseville and Shakopee do not have the upgrade yet but will have it by October.

The best part is there is no price increase....until the end of the year anyway.

Been enjoying "Louis" on FX. It is definitely different, got some bizarre scenes, and some twisted humor. If you like the stand-up of Louis CK you will probably like it. If he isn't your cup of tea you definitely won't like it.

I absolutely cannot believe Mad Men has not been mentioned in this thread. The best television show I have ever watched. I just finished Season 3 (Season 4 is currently airing) yesterday, watching all 13 episodes "spread out" over about 12 hours. I was so hooked I could not stop watching. It is on Sunday nights @ 9 p.m. central time on AMC.

I updated the thread title since we're nearing the end of the first round of summer series. The fall season is only a few months away (or less for some shows).

Renamed themselves Xfinity or some worthless crap like that. Reeks of synergy and other buzzwords mixed together.

It could be because of the city I live in, but I noticed no additional HD channels. I, for one, am disappointed in no HD Comedy Central or Travel Channel HD channels (although I don't know if the channels are HD anywhere to begin with).

Like I said on USCHO, I don't get shark week. I just don't. More hype than bite.

I'd rather have a WWII week where they rotate the battles year-to-year. Just focus in on the one for a week and analyze the hell out of it. Or focus in on a single company or platoon or air wing.

As lamented earlier, History used to be essentially all-war, all the time with a sprinkling of Modern Marvels. Pretty much the greatest channel a man could wish for. Now it's watered down garbage.

If you can find it on archives on HIST or whatever, watch "Sun Tzu: The Art Of War." The HIST channel covered 3 scenarios (Civil War, WWII, and the Vietnam War) and Sun's teachings were used as a basis to analyze each one, and it was awesome. They broke down his teachings, and how he used them, as well as how those were applied in the modern scenarios.

 It is a shame. I used to watch it all the time too. I bought the Fox College Sports package for Gopher hockey last season, but sports channels were not the only channels included in the package. It gave me random channels that had nothing to do with sports, such as the Military History channel. THAT is where it is at. The channel is what the History channel used to be. I cancelled the package once the Gophers were done for the season ($10 a month x 6 months Gophers do not play = $60 saved), but I will call to renew it again in October. I'll be watching a lot of the Military History channel.

If that's the same package I got, you also get the MLB, NFL, and NHL channels. In summer, the MLB is good for current (otherwise unaired games), and if you like to watch old games or specials, then the NFL/NHL channels are worth it too. Well, I guess you get the NBA and Speedvision, but meh.

HIST channel is still good; it's just a different type of good for me. There's only so many times you can break down things that have happened, you know?

I'm pretty sure I mentioned it in an earlier Television thread, but Mad Men is one of the best shows on TV. The writing and acting along with the visuals of being in the 50's/60's are fantastic.

This season is making it rough to watch Don Draper. Especially the way he treated his secretary after their "encounter." I did like how they shook up the complexion of the show at the end of last season and didn't return it to the way it used to be. Other shows have a dramatic ending to a season and within 2 episodes of the next season, everything is back to the way it used to be. Not Mad Men.

I checked this last night on my guide (if I recall we live only a few miles apart) and we don't have them yet. I believe the analog shutoff is around 8/23 and we should have the additional HD channels shortly after that. I was out on an AVS forum a couple nights ago and it looks like 1-2 week delay in between the shutoff and the new HD channels.

That said, don't get your hopes up on the new HD channels. We have Digital Preferred service right now and are considering dropping back to Digital Standard because with a HD-DVR we pay $92/month for cable as it is right now. The same AVS forum I saw had the list of new HD channels we're getting and there is very little interesting on that list.

If you want I'll look for the link to the AVS forum I found over my lunch hour.

Californication Season 3 DVD releases in November.

Great series. Due to torrents, I'm watching that season now, and if you think the first two seasons were rather racy...

I actually dozed off during Hawaii 5-0 tonight. It was not interesting at all. Would not recommend it. My friends and I also tried watching Lonestar on Fox. I thought it was alright, maybe some potential there. Finally, I caught Mike and Molly on CBS after all the good CBS comedies on Mondays. If you like fat jokes, this is the show for you. I don't think it will be recorded on my DVR again.

I'm just watching season 4 right now. Through four episodes. Good pace so far and good mix of "activities" for Dexter. Not sure I could stand to watch on TV. I finish one episode and am ready to dive into the next. However, I may have to get Showtime just so I can see the next season. Is this the final one?

Did anyone watch "The Event" last night? Was just curious how it was since they are trying way too hard to make it sound like the next coming of "Lost"

I was intrigued by the promos but forgot to put it on the DVR.

I thought Hawaii Five-0 was just all right. I'm going to give it another week. What I found unintentionally funny was that Steve McGarrett is supposed to be this super cop, but he had to get an explanation why Dan Williams was called "Danno".

Sons of Anarchy (first 2 have been great as usual)
Boardwalk Empire
Bored to Death

I'll watch The Office and 30Rock, but other than those two....nothing about the new network channel slate is really capturing my imagination. I might give that Detroit 187 show a shot, because Imperioli is pretty good, but it doesn't look THAT promising....just another network cop drama. Maybe I should just rewatch The Wire.

I just caught the end of Mike & Molly before watching Hawaii Five-O. There was a funny line in the little bit I caught.

(spoken by Molly's mom): "Your father had to take two jobs to pay for that necklace. I had to give him a third job just to get the necklace"

Seconded.

"I think in the best interest of his career, he definitely would benefit from playing one more year of college," Gretzky said.

I was intrigued by the promos but forgot to put it on the DVR.

I watched it. It was like a mental action thriller....think Memento or something like that for the first 55 minutes....and was really good.

Then some random wormhole opened up and swallowed a plane and they "lost" me.....

Won't be watching that again...

Here is a show that every time I come across it I'll sit and watch and find it very funny. However, for some reason have never put it in the DVR cue. I think I need to start doing that.
My father established our relationship when I was seven years old. He looked at me and said, "You know, I brought you in this world, and I can take you out. And it don't make no difference to me, I'll make another one look just like you." -Bill Cosby.

Speaking of Hawaii 5-0 there's a contest for marching bands and University of Minnesota is on there. Register and you can vote once a day. Winning band gets featured in a video on the show and $25K.

 for Penny.

The bad thing about CBS moving it to Thursday is that it's on the same time as Community. The least they could do is put it on during Outsourced so I can completely avoid that.
