Yep. I heard from a friend in Bemidji, said it was wicked. Heard from a friend in Montrose, said it was disappointing (lotsa rain, nothing severe). And finally a buddy in Duluth said it was weakening hard up there. I didn't know what to expect while looking at the radar.

THAT was some kick-ass wind last night. No trees down, but a lot of branches in the yard, a number of which I heard hitting the house during the storm. Whew!

I don't normally commute, but had a meeting in Wayzata that took me an hour and 25 minutes to get to, should have been 45 minutes. See pet peeves for further complaints!

Maybe if you'd move to the better side of town, you wouldn't have that problem. If I recall correctly where you work, I can reach that building in less than 10 minutes from here in Plymouth.

Normally it really bugs me when the east coast gets hit by a storm and makes headline news when any other region getting hit by the same storm would barely get noticed. This is an exception. This is an incredible storm. It further strengthens my belief that I will take a blizzard over a hurricane any day of the week.

Left my place at 5am in downtown Mpls. and it was chilly. Left the gym in Roseville at 7am and there was a dusting at snow. Got to White Bear Lake clinic at 7:30am with no problem. Got redirected to Bandana Square clinic at 9:30am with no problem. Coworkers looking at the traffic on the computers and it's a real mess out there. 94 on the east side looks like a ice rink.

494 West?
I left my house around 7:10 this morning (about 10 minutes earlier than normal because we just moved to a new building so we were all eligible for half an hour of overtime to get set up and I usually arrive 20 minutes early). I take Cedar Ave to 494 West and got here in the same amount of time it normally takes me (45-50 minutes). I didn't think it was too bad this morning. I thought when I woke up and saw snow that I was going to be hosed.

It was smart to leave early... The roads were disaster zones about mid-rush hour...

I'm guessing a lot of the backups were probably due to the jack-knifed Metro Transit bus on 35W this morning.

I thought when I woke up and saw snow that I was going to be hosed.

It was smart to leave early... The roads were disaster zones about mid-rush hour...

I'm guessing a lot of the backups were probably due to the jack-knifed Metro Transit bus on 35W this morning.

I didn't think I left that early... I usually have a commute that takes 40-50 minutes, today's was hardly any longer. 494 was backed up a little more than usual but Cedar wasn't backed up nearly as much as I thought it would be.

Nice snow fall, been out twice already. Going out for a third time during halftime. Property management on and busy street and sidewalk you have to do things more often then not.

About 8 miles SE of Hastings. I would say we've gotten about 10" so far...and still coming down.

The roads were fine for me. 169 was going at about 45 mph which is faster than it does on normal days  uptown probably has 4 inches or so.

Why does Minneapolis have a snow emergency web site with a map that shows you which streets are ok to park but not have it work the one day you need it to? This city does something right as often as Ponder is accurate throwing beyond 5 yards ;)

Yeah what a blown call. I was supposed to go wine tasting in SE MN today, so not complaining about the snow, but only needed the forecasted 2-4" to weasel out of it, not a snownami :chainsaw:

We had about 3 inches in Apple Valley at 9:45. Looks like we've added another 4 or so at least.

Given the way it's coming down and looking at the radar I will be really surprised if my total isn't at least 15 inches when all is said and done. 20" is a possibility.

I don't think them intersecting would change anything. No parking on any snow emergency route from 9pm tonight to 8am tomorrow. No parking on parkways or even side of non-snow emergency routes tomorrow from 8am to 8pm. Then no parking on odd side of non-snow emergency routes 8am to 8pm Tuesday. The example just shows a snow emergency route intersecting a non-snow emergency route so they can fit all the possibilities into one picture.

Taking the over/under on how many cars get towed in Mpls. tonight.

- First snow fall of the season, people forget.
- Though it's a pretty big snow fall, people should not forget.

I'm going with 375.

Our snow accumulation was over 12 inches at my house (I'd guess roughly 14). The ruler I was using to measure was more than an inch under the surface of the snow when I finally touched ground.

Intense thunderstorms were hitting the Nashville area all day. We received anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of rain. Oh wait, this is boring compared to snowfall? Alright, carry on.

And I quote the "cab-getter" at MSP tonight: "Tell them to send all the cabs. I don't care if you bugging them makes 'em mad!"

All my possible rides were snowed in, so I had to cab it (actually better fare than I thought: $58~). Line was about 2 blocks long for a cab, at 9:30 tonight.

Considering that was by far the worst part of my whole trip (my flight was only delayed 20 minutes, which shocked the hell out of me), I'll take it. Thank you for the thought, though. :D

I'm not even going to attempt to make it into work. The local roads are a complete mess. It's like the plows didn't even try on my street.

I think we ended up with 14-15 on my driveway by 5 pm last night. Went back out to finish the last half of the driveway and there was another 1" on the shoveled spots. At some point today I'll have to get the plow berm.

I recently became a Police Reserve in our community. I was on patrol last night. The Reserve vehicle is a 4WD F150 which we normally drive. However last night a regular officer used it instead of his regular squad so he could get around easier (totally understandable). That left me and the other reserve left driving a rear wheel drive Crown Vic around town last night. I hope to never have to do that again on non-plowed roads. I really missed my AWD Subaru.

Nope. I decided to forego the winter tires and put that money towards the new truck fund.
