Lots of good independent & 'underground' hip-hop acts, with a lot of local flavor. There's a skate jam & 'slow & low' car show as well.

Zwak, I'm with you. I read the description and band names, and I feel like Phil Hartman (Sinatra Group) talking to Sinead O'Connor. "Can't understand a word, all pops and buzzes:

I went with some friends to the free Ben Kweller show at the "U" Saturday night. I felt about 900, but it was a good show. Anybody else go?

Was it something to the effect that smoking and taking naps with Mick Jagger are bad for you?

I just won free tickets to see STP (with Weiland) on June 6th from KFAN - all because I was on hold to tell who my least favorite Vikings was of all time (Sean Salisbury btw) when they stopped taking calls. Nice trade off I think.

Coming to the Myth

Postby Zwak » Wed 6/04/08 4:06 pm

Judas Priest at The Myth on Saturday, August 2nd

The Scorpions at The Myth on Friday, August 8th.

Tickets for each show are $49.

I will absolutely be at Judas Priest. That will leave AC/DC as the only band left on my "must see" list.

Have you seen Pink Floyd?

I saw Pink Floyd at the Dome during my senior year at the U (93/94). For me, at least, that was...

I'm probably going to go to GPL hell for saying this, but I wouldn't walk across the street to see Pink Floyd in concert.

I don't hate them (that would be Skynyrd) but I've never gotten into them as much as others have.

I saw Pink Floyd for the Wall Tour, saw them without Roger Waters for the Division Bell, have seen Roger Waters solo twice, and saw the Live 8 reunion at Hyde Park in London in 2005. Each in their own right were ridiculous but the reunion in London nearly brought a tear to my eye, even if it looked as if Mason, Gilmour and Wright were rolling their eyes at Waters.

btw - Ron White is coming to town I believe next week and if it's that soon I won't be able to go with STP this Friday and and R.E.M. next Thursday.

You hit that nail on the head, momo.

I could have cared less about Pink Floyd, but my college girlfriend dragged me off to the concert. I'm still not a huge Floyd fan...but that concert was mind blowing. I'll never forget hearing the announcer come over the PA just like at a Twins game...

There is nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo smoking in the Metrodome!!!

Modest Mouse and REM tonight at the X. It'll be my first show in that place after attending a lot of shows at the Target Center. I've heard the sound is better at the X, can anyone verify that?

I saw Tool there a while back and was amazed with the acoustics. Wish I had had a contact at Target Center back when I was seeing bands there more as I would have been suggesting baffles in the rafters like the X has. The fabric strung in the roof joists keeps the sound from bouncing around. You will enjoy any show you see at the X.

Yep, the X is definitely a much better venue-I've seen Green Day at both the X and TGT Center, X is hand down the better and louder venue.

I agree. It was great to see STP back together again. This is the third time i've seen them and they always put on a great show. It's a little tough to see Weiland not being able to hit the low notes anymore but nevertheless still awesome.

The opening band was Ashes Divide and I thought they were just ok, nothing special.

Anyone making the trip out to Summerfest? Lots of good acts on the free stages, including Blondie, the Gin Blossoms, Pat Benetar, CCR, Plain White T's, Kansas, Cheap Trick, Earth-Wind-and Fire, and Jakob Dylan

If I hadn't just put a more money than I would like into my car this past week or so, and need to get some new hockey skates, I'd buy a pair of tickets right now. I'm a big fan of the Black Crowes; I don't know much about the Black Keys.

It's $35 or $37/ ticket, plus the ticket master charges. Or you could snail mail it. Go to the state fair website for information on how to do that. (those ticket master charges brought the total to almost $90, just a few pennies shy, really.

I ended up buying a pair of tickets after saying I wouldn't. In fact, I bought them about an hour after saying I wouldn't :) I'm in row 26, I think, of the Plz 2 section. I've never been to the grand stand, so I really don't know if they're good tickets or not. They're supposedly close, but I don't know if they'll be a good view or not.

The grandstand is different. If your seats are bad it would be mostly because they're wide (l or r) of the stage since it doesn't extend that far out.

I would ordinarily be all over a Rage show, but do not have any desire to go to a political rally put on by Tom Morello. Giving it a miss and am disappointed at the reason why it is even happening. :?

Bodeans

Postby Zwak » Sun 9/21/08 12:34 am

I know Bodeans concerts in the Twin Cities are a dime a dozen, but tonight they played under a tent at SeptemberFest in Eagan and it was one of the best small venue concerts I have seen in a long time.

Haven't seen anybody say this, but tickets for this year's TSO concerts are now on sale at ticketmaster. The shows are December 7th at 3:00 and 7:30 at the X. I got two tickets for me and my wife and a parking pass for the rivercenter ramp for $130.

Is The Motor City Madman coming to MPLS??

I don't think Uncle Ted tours when there is hunting to be done.

Plenty of hunting to be done here in Minnesota. Might be enough to draw the man into town.

Even though we had to leave the Gophers-Kato game after the second period- the Beastie Boys concert was great- this is now the 5th time I have seen them in concert and the Saturday show was just as good as the last ones I have been at!!

Here is a clip of the opening song that someone posted on you tube:

If I may........................... AC DC was awesome for this 46 year old. The sound and show was great !

My only beef was that they didn't play long enough and didn't play some songs I love such as; Money Talks, Who Made Who, Big Balls, Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock n Roll, Girls Got Rythem, Are You Ready, etc.

If one likes AC DC and didn't go Sunday night, they come back in January and I highly recommend going.

Went to First Ave last night for 'the Faint' and I swear the sound gets better every time I go there (about every 2-3 months).

My tolerance for 16 year old kids with sweat soaked shirts and saucer sized pupils constantly bouncing into me is getting pretty thin, however.

I had to settle for upper deck for Metallica. My wife went in again and got a confirmation code from Ticket Bastard for lower level but hasn't received the ok to print. Any idea how much it would cost to trade my lower level tix and upgrade to main floor?
