Because the President was DEFINITELY trying to say that in that quote that got lambasted by so many people this weekend. That is EXACTLY what he was trying to get at.
Come on.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

What is really amazing is the amount of waste there is yet people want to continue to feed the beast. As if the state would say OK now we have enough lets spend responsibly and pay down the debt. They are always going to spend more than they take in that goes for any administration.

If Wisconsin-Madison is the state's most prestigious university and the state itself is known as The Dairy State, does that mean UW is Bovine University?

Where in the article does it say that?Manufactroversy much? Or are you also upset how the government decides who gets a house by enforcing building codes?

Building codes? That analogy isn't even relevant.
If the government controls the credit reporting bureaus, its not a leap to say they control who gets good ratings and who doesn't. I didn't even think my comment could be controversial. Nothing should surprise me.

Kelor wrote:Thank you for agreeing with me bone. By government controlling building inspectors, they can control who builds houses, (not who buys them).
By such logic, it's even more clear that if they control personal credit ratings, they absolutely control who can buy a home.

This is what I meant with my post yesterday. How can you post something like this, use the phrase"absolutely control" and be "surprised" at the fact it's controversial? Did you read the article? In this very article you have the spokesman for Equifax saying they've already been regulated for 40 years and he had "no concerns" about the agency's oversight of their operation, a head of a consumer education site and former Equifax employee saying it will help clarify things, and a senior policy advocate for Consumer Reports saying "it's a wonderful thing". That in no way means they are right and you're wrong. But it should clue you in so as not to be flabbergasted that someone might see it different and leave you surprised by "nothing" in this instance; with that being said with a straight face rather than sarcasm.

Now I have never had a smartphone, my wife and I have always just had cheap LG flip phones. I have wanted one for quite some time, but it wasn't THAT important for me. I figured that I would just wait until one of these companies came up with a shared data plan that had been rumored for a few years.
But now it seems like I have waited too long to jump on the bandwagon. The prices just seem a bit outrageous to me. The new per phone monthly charge and the shared data rates are not what I was looking for...
We are on Verizon and when I saw their new rates I was not happy. I was really hoping the AT&T would come in with a much more competitive shared plan that would force Verizon to be more competitive. Then AT&T comes out with something that does not compete at all. It's almost the same plan. You would think that one of them would want to undercut the other just to pull customers away. But that is just not the case... It's all about profit.
Heck if I just want to get a smart phone and keep my wife on a flip phone, the "new" plan would be a lot more expensive than it would have been to add a smart phone on the old plan.
Under my current plan it's $50 for the first phone and $9 for the second. We get 500 minutes. With taxes it comes to about $73 a month. Before the changes, replacing my phone with a smart phone would have just added $30 for the 2GB data plan, for a total of just over $100.... If I want to make that change now, I will be forced in to the new shared plan. So now it's $40 for the smart phone, $30 for the regular phone and $60 for 2GB of data for a total of $130 before taxes.
Sure I get unlimited minutes and texts, but we rarely even come close to using our 500 minutes and only text a few times a month. So... These new shared plans just seem to suck in my world.
I guess I will wait to see what Sprint comes up with...

I don't think the Israelis are going to sit back this time. The next sound you'll hear at the border between Iran and Israel will be the bombs from Israel targeting every military installation they have. Even the Arabs diverted the oil out of the strait to a southern port to avoid Iranian blockades and attacks on the flow.

They don't share a border.
Pitbull, aka Armando Christian Perez, in a promotion with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sheets Energy Strips, agreed to visit whichever Walmart got the most "likes" on its Facebook page.
David Thorpe, a writer for The Boston Phoenix, thought it would be funny to exile the "Give Me Everything" rapper to the most remote Walmart possible, and encouraged people to "like" the Walmart in Kodiak.
The store in a city with a population of about 6,100 wound up with more than 70,000 "likes." The surrounding borough, which Alaska has rather than counties, has about 14,000 people.
